Job summary

California State University, Bakersfield is seeking a Director of Employee and Labor Relations & Compliance in Bakersfield. This leadership role directs employee and labor relations, workplace conduct, and performance management across the campus, advising university leadership and managing grievance processes with union and non-union staff.

The position also guides compliance with CBAs, laws, and CSU policies.

Qualifications

• Equivalency to a Bachelor’s degree in HR, labor relations, public administration, business, or related field.
• Minimum of five years of HR generalist experience including labor relations, employee relations, investigations, and grievance handling, in union and non-union environments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the university's representative in staff and management labor relations.
• Advise managers on performance management, organizational changes, and disciplinary actions.
• Oversee grievance processes and investigations; coordinate with counsel on litigation.
• Develop and implement staff policies and ensure compliance with CBAs and laws.
• Lead ADA/Section 504 coordination and compliance efforts.
