Job summary

Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, VA seeks an Emerg. Psychiatry Programs Director to provide clinical and administrative leadership for psychiatric operations, interfacing with the Health System and transfer center, ED, and referral sources.

The role leads CONNECT and the Ambulatory Intensive Care Continuum, guiding policy, staffing, budgeting, IT integration, and data-driven quality improvement across services.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required.
• 7 years of experience in acute and intensive outpatient psychiatric nursing or related fields, plus 5 years management experience in a community hospital.
• Virginia RN license, CNS, LCSW, LPC or LCP; De-escalation training within 4 months of hire and ongoing; Life Support: AHA BLS-HCP.
• Behavioral Health Call Center experience highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Leads CONNECT and Psychiatry/ Addictions and Chemistry departments, developing and implementing policies and standards of care.
• Communicates effectively with staff, patients, families, physicians and referral sources.
• Manages department finances and budgets, addressing variances.
• Optimizes IT, EPIC, Teletracking and Telecomm platforms to improve clinical and quality outcomes.
• Oversees recruitment, retention and supervision of CONNECT staff, fostering professional growth.
• Provides program planning, outcome data, and contributes to benchmarking and quality improvement.
• Monitors assessment and treatment quality via direct observation, audits and communications review.
• Maintains relationships with CSB, hospital EDs, and community services delivering CONNECT and ambulatory care.
• Provides routine direct clinical care within CONNECT as needed.
