Job summary

Mercy Fort Smith, the largest Emergency Department in Arkansas, seeks a Director of Emergency Services to provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-volume ED and trauma program. You will lead a multidisciplinary team, partner with physicians and EMS, drive patient-centered care, and guide regulatory compliance during a period of growth after a major expansion.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current RN licensure in the applicable state of practice.
• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
• 3–5 years of leadership or administrative experience.
• 3–5 years of relevant clinical experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for a fast-paced Emergency Department.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with physicians, EMS, and trauma leadership.
• Drive patient-centered care, outcome improvement, and regulatory compliance.

Lead the largest Emergency Department in Arkansas!

Mercy Fort Smith has recently completed a $162 million expansion, creating one of the most advanced emergency care environments in the region:

• Emergency Department expanded from 29 to 50 treatment rooms

• ICU expanded from 38 to 64 beds

• Capacity to support approximately 25,000 additional patient visits annually

• 74,000 annual ED visits

• Level III Trauma Center

About the Role

The Director of Emergency Services provides strategic and operational leadership for a fast-paced Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of exceptional patient-centered care while advancing organizational goals, regulatory compliance, trauma standards, and emergency medicine best practices.

Working closely with physicians, EMS partners, trauma leadership, and interdisciplinary teams, you'll lead a highly engaged team focused on improving outcomes, enhancing the patient experience, and supporting the growing healthcare needs of our community.
