Job summary

AbbVie in North Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Principal Research Scientist or Director, Process Engineering. You will drive early-phase drug product manufacturing development for synthetic molecules, translate bench breakthroughs to pilot-plant scale, and lead cross-functional teams to align with commercial manufacturing.

The role may include people leadership at the Associate Director level. Expect deep expertise in powder properties, multiple manufacturing platforms, and stringent adherence

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Science related field required.
• Advanced degrees (MS/PhD or PharmD) strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated collaboration with diverse internal/external teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead drug product manufacturing process early phase development for synthetic molecule candidates.
• Collaborate with development CMC teams to align processes with commercial sites.
• Mentor peers and provide technical leadership; may supervise staff at Associate Director level.
• Drive development of technologies expanding AbbVie's formulation capabilities.
• Partner cross-functionally to support drug discovery and development programs.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
