Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Director, Legal Counsel - Digital Assets Initiatives to provide strategic legal support for digital assets platforms including custody and trading. You will advise on regulatory compliance, draft and negotiate agreements, and partner with product, risk, and compliance teams to shape initiatives.

Based in the Washington, DC area, this on-site role requires 4 days in the office, strong experience with banking and securities laws, and an JD with active bar admission.

Qualifications

• Must hold a JD and be an active member of a state bar.
• 4–7 years of legal experience at a law firm focusing on banking or securities for intermediaries.
• Experience with crypto, blockchain, or digital assets is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice on strategic growth initiatives involving digital assets.
• Draft and negotiate customer agreements, disclosures, and intermediary agreements.
• Monitor regulatory developments and advise senior leadership on impact.
• Collaborate with product, compliance, and operations to align priorities within legal/regulatory frameworks.
