Job summary

Prologis is seeking a Director to lead the grid-scale energy storage development portfolio in the Western United States. You will originate, develop, and advance a 9 GW utility-scale BESS program, overseeing site origination, permitting, interconnection, and commercial structuring across Western markets.

You will partner with cross-functional teams to move projects from origination to notice to proceed, manage budgets and analyses, and engage with communities and regulators to secure approvals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, Real Estate, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of experience developing utility-scale energy projects, including battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Experience managing multiple projects through site control, permitting, interconnection, and pre-construction milestones.
  • Experience with power markets, post-FERC 2023 ISO-level interconnection processes, regulatory frameworks, and energy storage project economics.
  • Financial and analytical skills, including project valuation, budgeting, and risk assessment.
  • Transactional or M&A experience with project acquisitions and dispositions, including MIPA negotiation, diligence, closing, and post-closing items.
  • Communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills with experience engaging utilities, regulators, landowners, and local communities.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of Prologis'grid-scale energy storagepipelineacross the Western United States, advancing projects from origination throughdisposition.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of energy storage development professionals while driving accountability and execution across the portfolio.

Prologis is seeking a Director, Grid-Scale Energy Storage Development – West to lead development and execution of a 9 GW utility-scale energy storage portfolio across the Western United States.

This role will originate, develop, and advance standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) projects from early-stage origination through disposition, supporting transactions across a range of project maturities.

The Director will oversee the project development lifecycle, including site origination, property diligence, land leasing and transaction support, interconnection strategy, site design and optimization, permitting, stakeholder engagement, and commercial structuring.

Reporting to the Vice President, Grid-Scale Storage Development – Americas, this role will partner across Revenue Contract Origination, Real Estate, Finance, Legal, Regulatory Affairs, Construction, community engagement, and permitting teams to advance utility-scale and distributed battery solutions in Western markets.

Hiring Salary Range of:

Hiring Salary Range of: $180,000 - $230,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target & LTI (Long Term Incentives) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
