Job summary

Alliance Resource Group seeks a Director of Construction Accounting to lead the department and partner with senior leadership on strategic initiatives. The position requires deep expertise in construction accounting, US GAAP, and robust Excel skills, with 10–15 years of relevant experience including 5+ years in management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field; Advanced degree/CPA preferred.
• 10–15 years of construction accounting experience including 5+ years in management.
• CPA and public accounting experience a plus.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel.
• Required understanding of US GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Oversee construction accounting department including Accounting Manager, Senior Accountants, billing, and AP.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting (monthly internal and quarterly external).
• Own project budgeting process and analyze actual vs budget.
• Maintain financial projections for revenue and operating expenses.
• Manage treasury activities and cash flow.
• Oversee WIP tracking and reporting.
• Collaborate with project management on cost reporting and cash flow projections.
• Develop and enforce internal controls and accounting policies.
• Partner with Operations to drive strategic initiatives.

The Director will play an important role within our client’s leadership team, partnering directly with the SVP of Accounting. The organization is going through rapid growth focusing on multi-family / hospitality development and subsequent property operations. This role will lead the Construction Accounting Department and is responsible for day-to-day details of accounting operations and financial reporting for all current projects. This role will also partner with corporate and property accounting on strategic initiatives

Essential Functions:

• Oversee work of construction accounting department including Accounting Manager, Senior Accountants, billing, and AP
• Responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting including monthly internal reporting and quarterly external reporting
• Own project budgeting process and work directly with the Director of Construction on actual and flux analysis
• Responsible for maintenance of financial projections including revenue and operating expenses
• Treasury management
• Oversee work in progress tracking and reporting
• Work closely with project management on project cost reporting and cash flow projections
• Responsible for development and adherence to internal controls and accounting policies
• Collaborate with Operations Team to drive strategic initiatives

Education and Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, Advanced degree/CPA license preferred
• 10-15 years of construction accounting experience including 5+ years in management
• CPA and public accounting experience a plus
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
• Required understanding of US GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
• Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including revenue recognition, project costing, and job costing.
