As the Director of Design, you will be responsible for driving the creative vision behind the visual advertising experiences across multiple platforms. This includes web, newsletters, social, video, and events, ensuring that all brand messaging is visually compelling, consistent, and audience-first. You will lead a design team, collaborate cross-functionally with creative and revenue teams, and optimize design processes to deliver high-impact, scalable advertising experiences. This is a leadership role that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on design expertise.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the design evolution across multiple platforms, including web, social media, video, newsletters, and experiential content.
  • Establish and maintain a cohesive visual identity for Axios Creative House productions, ensuring consistency across all branded experiences.
  • Guide the design team in conceptualizing innovative ideas and pushing creative boundaries to deliver engaging ad campaigns.
  • Build and optimize scalable design processes that foster both creativity and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with creative and revenue teams to identify new product opportunities and improve creative offerings.
  • Provide strategic design feedback and ensure effective communication of visual choices to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in a design leadership role, preferably within a media or advertising organization.
  • Strong experience conceptualizing big ideas and guiding designers to execute them effectively.
  • Proven expertise in UX, video, and experiential design.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate creative strategies to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Mastery of design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and Figma; familiarity with Webflow or Ceros is a plus.
  • An online portfolio showcasing creative expertise and successful campaign designs.
