This role leads data science strategy and execution within the Global Payment Network Data Solutions and Modeling team, where machine learning and AI agents support smarter decisions across the payments ecosystem. You will collaborate with partners across data science, engineering, and product to turn large-scale data into scalable intelligence.
Based in Riverwoods, IL in an onsite capacity, this Director-level position focuses on building and operationalizing machine learning solutions across the full development lifecycle.
What you’ll do
- Partner with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and product managers to deliver customer-focused products
- Use a broad technology stack including Python, Conda, AWS, H2O, Spark, and more to extract signal from large volumes of numeric and textual data
- Build machine learning models through design, training, evaluation, validation, and implementation
- Apply interpersonal skills to translate complex analysis into tangible business goals
Team mission
- The Global Payment Network Data Solutions and Modeling team builds machine learning and AI agents that enable foundational, scalable intelligence for the payments ecosystem
- Models and AI tools support fraud/risk, merchant acceptance, merchant intelligence, and monitoring
Required qualifications
- Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, one of the following degrees with the expectation it will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
- Bachelor’s in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field) plus 9 years of data analytics experience
- Master’s in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, )
- At least 4 years of experience leveraging open source programming languages for large scale data analysis
- At least 4 years of experience working with machine learning
- At least 4 years of experience utilizing relational databases
Technologies

Preferred qualifications
- Extensive multi-project experience leading data science solutions within payments, financial services, or fintech
- At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
- At least 3 years of experience managing people
- At least 5 years of experience in Python, Scala, or R for large scale data analysis
- At least 5 years of experience with machine learning

Compensation & benefits
- Salary: USD 244,700 - 279,200 per year
- Performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI)
