Position Overview

The Data Operations Group at Eisai, Inc. is looking for a Director - Data Scientist/Programmer to drive drug development through predictive modeling of disease and drug response. The Data Scientist will work closely with Biostatisticians in the Stat Methodology / Machine Learning group to support projects across various stages of development. This role will be integral in providing actionable insights for critical data science projects that are vital to our business.

This position may be either office based (hybrid) in Nutley, NJ, or remote based.

Responsibilities
  1. Data Analysis for Strategic Insights: Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights, identify key trends, and support strategic decision-making.
  2. Data Storage & Processing: Design, manage, and optimize data storage solutions and build automated data pipelines.
  3. AI-Driven Data Preparation: Leverage AI and machine learning for automated data preparation and create visualizations via Power BI.
  4. NLP & LLM: Apply NLP techniques and LLMs to analyze unstructured data, generating infographics and narratives.
  5. Pipeline Orchestration & Automation: Automate data workflows using tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, and Dagster.
  6. Data Quality & Consistency: Establish validation rules to ensure data integrity.
  7. Incremental Data Loads: Implement strategies to optimize data refresh cycles.
  8. Event-Driven Automation: Enable real-time dashboard updates with event-driven automation.
  9. Low-Latency Data Processing: Deliver real-time insights with optimized performance.
  10. Dashboard Optimization: Enhance Power BI dashboards for better responsiveness.
  11. Data Communication & Visualization: Present findings effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  12. Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA): Conduct thorough data assessments to ensure quality and uncover insights.
  13. Feature Engineering: Develop relevant features to improve model performance.
Qualifications
  1. Master's degree with 7+ years of related experience.
  2. Deep knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling.
  3. Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in data libraries.
  4. Experience with visualization tools like Tableau or matplotlib.
  5. Familiarity with big data tech (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  6. Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and project management skills.
  7. Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.

Salary & Benefits

The base salary range is $196,800 - $258,300, with eligibility for annual and long-term incentives. Final pay depends on experience, education, and skills. Employees may participate in benefit programs; for details, visit Eisai Benefits.
