The Data Operations Group at Eisai, Inc. is looking for a Director - Data Scientist/Programmer to drive drug development through predictive modeling of disease and drug response. The Data Scientist will work closely with Biostatisticians in the Stat Methodology / Machine Learning group to support projects across various stages of development. This role will be integral in providing actionable insights for critical data science projects that are vital to our business.

The position may be office-based (hybrid) in Nutley, NJ, or remote.

Responsibilities
  1. Data Analysis for Strategic Insights: Analyze complex datasets to extract actionable insights, identify key trends, and support strategic decision-making.
  2. Data Storage & Processing: Design, manage, and optimize data storage solutions; build and automate data pipelines.
  3. AI-Driven Data Preparation: Use AI and machine learning algorithms for automated data transformation and visualization via Power BI.
  4. Natural Language Processing & LLMs: Apply NLP techniques and large language models to analyze unstructured data and generate visual insights.
  5. Pipeline Orchestration & Automation: Automate data workflows using tools like Apache Airflow, Prefect, and Dagster.
  6. Data Quality & Consistency: Establish validation rules to ensure data integrity.
  7. Incremental Data Loads: Implement strategies for efficient data refreshes.
  8. Event-Driven Automation: Enable real-time dashboard updates.
  9. Low-Latency Data Processing: Ensure real-time insights with minimal delay.
  10. Dashboard Optimization: Enhance Power BI dashboard performance.
  11. Data Communication & Visualization: Present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
  12. Exploratory Data Analysis: Conduct thorough data assessments to inform analysis.
  13. Feature Engineering: Develop features to improve machine learning models.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
  • Deep knowledge of statistical analysis, machine learning, and data modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python or R, with experience in data libraries.
  • Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau or matplotlib.
  • Familiarity with big data tech (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.
