Job summary

Capital One seeks a Director of Risk Management in Chicago, IL to lead data risk advisory services across the enterprise. You will partner with lines of business to identify, measure, and mitigate data-related risks while aligning with risk frameworks and data governance standards.

You will collaborate with senior data and business executives to implement innovative controls, gather metrics, and drive improvements in data quality, governance, and resilience in a fast-paced, open environment.

Qualifications

• At least 5 years in data governance.
• At least 5 years in risk management.
• At least 5 years partnering with internal business clients.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight to data AEs and stewards across the enterprise.
• Challenge business stakeholders to embed data management principles into controls and processes.
• Become a trusted advisor to business partners on data management.
• Use data and analytics to conduct risk assessments and drive action.
• Solve business problems with a data risk lens, leveraging AI tools.
• Communicate data management risk and progress clearly to senior leaders.
• Collaborate with EDRM and 2nd line partners on metadata and governance.
• Oversee projects and team members in a matrix environment as an individual contributor.
• Build relationships with data officers and risk teams to define responsibilities.
