Job summary

FMC is seeking a Data Privacy Director to lead enterprise-wide privacy policies, procedures, and training. You will partner with technology, risk, legal, and HR leaders to identify and mitigate privacy and information security risks globally.

The role requires strong stakeholder engagement, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to navigate regulators worldwide. You will drive program governance, incident response readiness, and privacy awareness campaigns across a multinational workforce.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher.
  • 5+ years of compliance/privacy experience in progressively responsible roles.
  • Experience interacting with state and federal regulators, clients, and customers on privacy matters.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Data Privacy Office and coordinate privacy activities across regions and projects.
  • Oversee annual risk assessments and define priority geographies and activities.
  • Support Enterprise Compliance governance and prepare reports for leadership.
  • Manage GDPR compliance and other data protection laws.
  • Develop, maintain, and update privacy policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with HR to enforce privacy policies.
  • Develop and implement a global privacy training program.
  • Align privacy with Information Security and Internal Audit.
  • Monitor evolving privacy regulations and adapt programs accordingly.
  • Coordinate with Data Protection Officers in Germany and other countries.
  • Review and governance of privacy program; maintain governance manual.
  • Lead budgeting and forecasting of privacy spending.
  • Drive ad-hoc projects (e.g., PIA automation, data mapping) and modernize SharePoint sites.
  • Communicate status, needs, gaps, risks, and metrics to stakeholders.
  • Partner with external consultants and cross-functional teams.

Job Overview

Data Privacy Director – responsible for developing and maintaining effective enterprise‑wide privacy policies, procedures, and training programs. This global role partners with business leaders and internal professionals across Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Enterprise Risk Management, Internal Audit, Legal, and Human Resources to identify, assess, and mitigate privacy and information security risks. The position requires a customer‑focused mindset, an understanding of key stakeholder perspectives, and familiarity with regulators and enforcement agencies worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Data Privacy Office, directing interactions with corporate, regional, and project contacts to answer questions and implement privacy‑related activities.
  • Lead annual risk assessment activities to prioritize key geographies and activities, with approval from the Data Privacy Advisory Council.
  • Support FMC’s Enterprise Compliance Program governance, preparing reports for General Counsel, the Privacy Steering Committee, and Audit Committee.
  • Manage ongoing compliance with GDPR, European, and other national data protection laws.
  • Lead a team to develop, maintain, and update relevant policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to enforce policies consistently.
  • Develop and implement a global training and education program.
  • Align security and privacy compliance programs with Information Security and Internal Audit.
  • Track evolving privacy regulations, assess impacts on FMC operations, and launch projects to adapt to changes.
  • Coordinate with Data Protection Officers in Germany and other countries to ensure legal compliance.
  • Periodically review the privacy program, maintain the governance manual, and ensure the team is viewed as an essential business partner.
  • Maintain the Data Privacy Incident Response Plan and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with Internal Audit on applicable audits and reviews.
  • Budget and forecast privacy spending in line with financial targets, working with General Counsel.
  • Lead ad‑hoc projects, such as automating the PIA process and data mapping using OneTrust Privacy Management Software, and modernize the employee‑facing SharePoint site.
  • Communicate status, needs, gaps, risks, opportunities, and metrics to stakeholders.
  • Partner with external consultants and cross‑functional teams (Marketing, Sales, Finance, Legal, IT) to optimize privacy activities.
  • Lead the Data Privacy Awareness Campaign, creating easy‑to‑learn communications for global workers.
Qualifications
