The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Director of Data Platforms and Services, you will leverage your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people globally. Your impact will include:
- Leading the strategy, development, and management of data platforms and services, ensuring data infrastructure supports organizational goals and enables data-driven decision-making.
- Managing current data infrastructure, building next-generation AI-first data platforms, driving data consumption through Generative BI and visualization tools, and overseeing platform lifecycle and services.
- Interacting with senior leaders across business and technology teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive data strategy aligned with company objectives.
- Platform Management: Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data platforms ensuring data availability, integrity, and security.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor data engineers, architects, and analysts, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
- Collaboration: Work with IT, product development, and business units to deliver impactful data solutions.
- Data Governance: Establish and enforce policies to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
- Innovation: Stay updated on emerging technologies to drive data management and analytics innovations.
- Budget Management: Manage budgets for data platforms and services, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Performance Metrics: Define KPIs and measure success with data-driven insights.
- Vendor Management: Manage relationships with key vendors and partners.
Your Skills and Expertise
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Data Science.
- 10+ years in data management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role in relevant environments.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master’s degree in relevant fields.
- Understanding of CI/CD, release management, data architecture, data warehousing, and cloud solutions.
- Experience delivering analysis, visualization, and AI services for enterprise applications.
- Knowledge of multiple cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid cloud management.
- Strong understanding of business architecture, data protection, and security frameworks.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Work Location & Travel
Hybrid eligible, requiring travel to Maplewood, MN at least 3 days/week, with up to 10% international travel. Relocation assistance may be provided.
Additional Information
Competitive pay range: $266,001 - $325,112, including base and variable incentive pay. Benefits information available at 3M benefits page. The posting is active from 06/04/2025 to 07/04/2025 or until filled.
