Job summary

Smithfield Foods is seeking a Director of Data and Applications Security to lead enterprise-wide data protection strategies and secure software development practices across the technology landscape.

You will drive data taxonomy, cryptographic controls, and SSDLC integration, coordinating with CISOs and cross-functional leaders to ensure regulatory compliance and robust protection for sensitive data and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience in Data & Applications Security
• CISSP, CISM or equivalent certification required
• Experience in multinational organizations with complex IT/OT environments
• Proven knowledge in data classification, masking, tokenization, encryption and cryptographic controls
• Knowledge of AI risk and governance frameworks and SSDLC

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with CISO and leadership to align cybersecurity services and strategy
• Develop and implement data classification, taxonomy and governance policies
• Lead enterprise data loss prevention initiatives
• Identify and mitigate security risks across applications, databases, networks and cloud
• Assess current capabilities and roadmaps for data security and governance
• Partner with IT and vendor teams to manage vulnerabilities and security tools
• Support audits and regulatory compliance efforts
• Oversee software and asset management standards and reporting
• Provide leadership and mentorship to security teams
