Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a seasoned Director, Data Analytics to lead quantitative analysis on Medicare/Medicaid models, build client relationships, and guide data-driven health policy decisions. The role emphasizes SQL/Python/R/SAS proficiency, AI integration, and mentoring teams.

The position offers remote work from anywhere in the U.S., with an expectation to work in the office four days weekly for Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience using SQL, Python, R or SAS in a research, consulting, or business environment.
• 6+ years of experience on federal health policy issues, including Medicare/Medicaid value-based payment.
• Experience with Medicare/Medicaid claims data and enrollment data.
• Experience advising clients and managing personnel.
• Extensive knowledge of healthcare data/payment concepts.
• Experience with Snowflake and/or Databricks environments.
• Experience incorporating AI into technical workflows.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for client delivery.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform quantitative analysis to inform Medicare/Medicaid payment models.
• Develop strategic relationships with clients.
• Design payments, perform financial and trend analyses, and ad-hoc analyses.
• Query large healthcare claims databases and enrollment data.
• Apply ML, econometrics, and data visualization for health policy support.
• Mentor staff and write detailed data processing specifications.
• Write robust code and maintain high accuracy in all tasks.
• Collaborate effectively within project teams and oversee AI adoption.
