Job summary

FTI Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Director to lead privacy engineering engagements in the Privacy team within the Cybersecurity practice. You will bridge privacy law and engineering, translating regulatory requirements into scalable technical solutions.

You will design and implement privacy engineering solutions, including API and system integrations with privacy platforms and data infrastructure, while guiding client engagements and internal initiatives.

Qualifications

• Three or more years of privacy engineering or related field experience.
• Experience designing privacy solutions including system integrations and consent management.
• Deep knowledge of GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and HIPAA with practical technical implementation.
• Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; visa sponsorship not offered.

About The Role

We provide our clients with a comprehensive view of cybersecurity and privacy consulting that leverages our integrated suite of services, including privacy program development, regulatory compliance, data protection assessments, incident response, and cyber risk management across all major markets around the world. We are currently looking for a technically sophisticated Director to join our Privacy team within the Cybersecurity practice. This person will lead the delivery of privacy engineering engagements, bringing deep technical expertise to help clients operationalize privacy compliance through system architecture, automation, and technology integration. The Director will serve as a key subject matter expert and systems architect, advising clients on privacy by design, tracking technology compliance, API and platform integrations, and the technical implementation of privacy management solutions. This role is ideal for a professional who bridges the gap between privacy law and engineering, and who can translate regulatory requirements into scalable, practical technical solutions.

What You’ll Do

In this role, the Director will lead client engagements and internal initiatives at the intersection of privacy and technology. Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

• Lead the design and implementation of privacy engineering solutions, including API and system integrations with privacy management platforms (e.g., OneTrust, TrustArc, Ketch, Osano and Truyo) and enterprise data infrastructure such as Snowflake and Databricks;
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' ad tech practices and identify compliance gaps related to applicable privacy regulations;
• implement technical measures to operationalize compliance strategy across ad tech environments;
• Advise clients on consent models for cookies, pixels, beacons, and other tracking technologies across websites and mobile applications;
• develop and deploy website scanning strategies and recommend technical measures to support consent and preference management obligations;
• Perform in-depth analyses of network traffic and employ advanced network scanning tools to support privacy compliance assessments and data flow documentation;
• Design and document data flows between systems and technologies to support privacy impact assessments, data inventories, and regulatory compliance programs;
• Lead and contribute to engagements spanning Privacy Technology implementations, privacy source code analysis, website and application compliance reviews, and Privacy Technology training and adoption;
• Manage engagement workstreams, supervise junior team members, and serve as a primary point of contact for client stakeholders;
• Contribute to business development through proposal development, thought leadership, and the creation of standardized methodologies and reusable work products;
• and Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving privacy regulations to continuously enhance the quality and relevance of client solutions.

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

• Three or more years of relevant experience in privacy engineering, technical privacy consulting, or a closely related field;
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing technical privacy solutions, including system integrations, consent management, and privacy by design frameworks;
• Deep knowledge of privacy regulations and frameworks, including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and HIPAA, and their practical technical implementation;
• Ability to travel to FTI offices and client sites as needed;
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis;
• this position does not provide visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Privacy Engineering, or a related technical field;
• Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and/or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) certification;
• OneTrust certifications are a plus;
• Experience with tag management systems and marketing technologies, including Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics;
• Proficiency in one or more programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript) and experience with data integration pipelines;
• Knowledge of internet protocol layers and network security concepts;
• Experience with privacy management platforms and their technical configuration and integration capabilities;
• Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders, including legal, compliance, and executive audiences.

Compensation

Minimum Pay: $145,000 Maximum Pay: $252,000 Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
