Job summary

Capital One in McLean, VA seeks a Director, Risk Management: Cyber & Third Party Risk to lead the Card Risk Office's third‑party risk team, partnering with Enterprise Supplier Management, Cyber, Card Technology and Risk functions.

The role focuses on implementing risk and control frameworks, driving risk identification, measurement and reporting, and guiding strategic decisions to protect customers and the business. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or Military Experience.
• 7+ years of experience in risk management.
• 5+ years in information technology, including software delivery/hosting, platform services, information security or cloud computing.
• 5+ years in third party risk management, including vendor risk and control assessment programs.
• 5+ years of experience in people management.

Responsibilities

• Drive initiatives to improve third-party risk management and vendor lifecycle, with focus on automation and process improvements.
• Engage with cross-functional leadership across Card, Risk, Supplier Management and Cyber to report program status.
• Make sound risk-based judgments across contracting risk, operational delivery, information security and resilience.
• Serve as interdepartmental advisor interfacing with enterprise technology and other business areas.
• Collaborate across organizations to achieve objectives.
• Deliver clear, concise information tailored to audiences; communicate complex issues effectively.
• Analyze data extracts to identify trends, anomalies and key risks.
• Ensure compliance with policies through risk assessments and enterprise programs.
• Identify opportunities for business improvement and permanent corrective actions.
• Manage special projects and travel up to 10%.
