Job Description

The Director, Customer Analytics & Workforce Insights is an experienced people leader and applied labor economist who leads a team of analysts delivering customer-facing workforce and labor market insights to Appcast clients.

This role sits at the intersection of labor economics, workforce planning, data analytics, and talent acquisition strategy. You will guide a team responsible for helping clients understand labor market conditions, talent availability, hiring challenges, workforce demand trends, and the implications these factors have on recruiting strategies and budgets.

Success in this role means building a team that goes beyond reporting historical data to provide forward-looking insights that help clients anticipate change and make informed workforce decisions. The Director will bring the economic expertise needed to ensure analytical rigor and the leadership experience required to scale a high-performing team supporting a growing portfolio of Appcast customers.

Job Responsibilities

Lead and Develop the Customer Analytics Team

  • Manage the day-to-day operations, priorities, and professional development of a team of data analysts delivering customer-facing analytics projects.
  • Establish high standards for analytical rigor, data storytelling, visualization, project management, and client delivery.
  • Provide technical and methodological guidance to analysts, helping them select appropriate analytical approaches and interpret results.
  • Review major analyses and client deliverables for quality, accuracy, clarity, and business relevance.
  • Coach analysts on communicating technical findings to non-technical audiences and translating analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Manage multiple concurrent client projects, balancing timelines, resources, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Identify opportunities to standardize and scale successful analytical approaches across customers.

Lead Workforce Planning and Talent Analytics

  • Serve as Appcast’s subject-matter expert on applying labor economics to workforce planning and talent acquisition.
  • Develop frameworks that combine labor supply, labor demand, wage, demographic, geographic, occupational, and recruiting data to help employers understand current and future hiring conditions.
  • Lead workforce planning analyses that help large employers determine where, when, and how difficult it will be to recruit the workers needed to achieve business objectives.
  • Develop labor demand and supply forecasts across occupations, industries, and geographies to identify emerging workforce opportunities and constraints.
  • Build talent acquisition forecasts that help clients anticipate seasonal hiring patterns and make informed decisions about recruiting budgets, hiring targets, and market strategy.
  • Evaluate labor-market tightness, wage trends, talent availability, competition for workers, and other factors affecting recruiting difficulty.
  • Translate economic and labor-market conditions into recommendations that talent acquisition and workforce leaders can incorporate into operating plans.
  • Help develop repeatable methodologies, models, benchmarks, and analytical products that differentiate Appcast’s customer analytics capabilities.

Partner Directly with Clients

  • Partner with Appcast’s customer-facing teams to identify client workforce questions and translate them into well-designed analytical projects.
  • Present analyses, forecasts, and recommendations directly to senior talent acquisition, workforce planning, HR, finance, and business leaders.
  • Participate in client business reviews, strategic consulting engagements, sales conversations, and executive presentations where advanced workforce analytics can create value.
  • Explain complex labor-market and statistical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Gather feedback from customers and internal stakeholders to continually improve Appcast’s analytics services and methodologies.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients on labor-market conditions, workforce planning, recruiting strategy, and the interpretation of talent data.

Advance Appcast’s Analytical Capabilities

  • Combine Appcast’s proprietary recruiting data with external labor-market and economic data to generate distinctive workforce insights.
  • Partner with Data Science, Data Engineering, Product, Customer Success, and other teams to improve the data, tools, and analytical capabilities available to customer-facing analysts.
  • Identify opportunities to automate, productize, or scale analyses that begin as custom client engagements.
  • Establish best practices for analytical methodologies, forecasting, visualization, documentation, and reproducibility.
  • Contribute to the broader strategy for Appcast’s customer analytics and workforce intelligence capabilities.
Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of labor economics and applied workforce analysis, including labor supply and demand, occupational and geographic labor markets, wage determination, employment dynamics, and workforce forecasting.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical analytical skills, including experience working with large and complex datasets.
  • Proficiency with statistical programming tools such as Python and/or R.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience querying and manipulating large datasets.
  • Experience with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau, PowerBI, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to combine and interpret public labor-market datasets with proprietary business data.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting and quantitative modelling, with the ability to select methods appropriate to the business question rather than applying unnecessary methodological complexity.
  • Exceptional data storytelling and presentation skills, particularly for senior non-technical audiences.
  • Strong client-facing communication and relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to convert ambiguous business questions into structured analytical projects and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to prioritize competing demands and manage multiple complex analytical projects simultaneously.

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in applied economics, workforce analytics, labor‑market analysis, data analytics, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing teams of analysts or other quantitative professionals required.
  • Experience working directly with enterprise clients, senior business leaders, or HR/talent acquisition organizations strongly preferred.
  • Experience with workforce planning, people analytics, recruiting analytics, human capital consulting, or talent intelligence is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience applying economic analysis to practical workforce, talent acquisition, human capital, or broader business questions.

Travel Requirements

  • Travel may be required for internal meetings, client engagements, conferences, and other business opportunities based on business needs.

Fair Labor Standards Act Status
