Job summary

MGA Entertainment in Los Angeles is seeking a Director of Cost Engineering to lead US cost engineering across its toy portfolio, owning cost accuracy, value engineering, BOM validation and cost optimization while maintaining quality and speed to market.

Responsibilities include shaping vendor strategy, onboarding and developing manufacturing partners, partnering with Product Development, Sourcing and Supply Chain, and driving cost discipline through early lifecycle decisions and smart category

Qualifications

• 10–15 years of cost engineering in consumer products or toys.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers.
• Experience building and validating cost models (BOMs, tooling, packaging, labor).
• Experience working with vendors and manufacturing partners.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple product pipelines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead all cost engineering activities for US-based product development across brands.
• Own cost models, BOM validation, and cost tracking from concept through production.
• Ensure alignment between cost targets, product design, and commercial objectives.
• Identify and drive cost-saving opportunities across design, materials, packaging, and manufacturing.
• Partner with Product Development and Design teams to embed cost discipline early in the development lifecycle.
• Balance cost reduction with quality, functionality, and brand standards.
• Support vendor strategy across the US portfolio, including onboarding of new manufacturing partners.
• Collaborate with Sourcing and Supply Chain to evaluate vendor capabilities, cost structures, and scalability.
• Standardize cost engineering methodologies and reporting across US teams.
• Lead cost engineering for special projects and new category expansions.
