What you’ll do in the role:

Morgan Stanley Services Group, Inc. is seeking a Director, Corporate Controllers, Reporting & Accounting in New York, New York to interpret regulatory rules and requirements, identify gaps in current implementation, and develop plans to address those gaps. Design, execute, and enhance governance and controls to support FRTB/Basel III Endgame and Basel 2.5 compliance. Review Firm activity and prepare materials covering regulatory governance. Prepare materials for regulatory reporting and quality assurance, internal and external audits, and regulatory reviews to demonstrate compliance. Lead agile delivery of regulatory compliance initiatives by aligning stakeholders, defining and prioritizing requirements, tracking progress against timelines, managing issues, and providing status updates to senior stakeholders.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field of study. Employer will accept 3-year or 4-year Bachelor's degree.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years as an Associate, Analyst, or a closely related occupation.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience with the following skills:
    • Market Risk regulatory frameworks and global regulators including Federal Reserve Board (FRB), Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA), Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), to interpret and apply Basel 2.5, Basel III Endgame, and the Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB) rules across firm activities;
    • Banking Book versus Trading Book boundary requirements and the Covered Position Rule to develop, implement, and execute Market Risk controls;
    • Fixed Income and Equity products, valuation principles, and mark‑to‑market concepts to interpret trading Profit and Loss (P&L) behavior and Market Risk outcomes;
    • P&L attribution analysis including identification of key market drivers and interpretation of risk sensitivities;
    • Value-at-Risk (VaR) methodologies including Historical Simulation, Monte Carlo Simulation, and Hypothetical P&L (Clean P&L) derivation;
    • Value‑at‑Risk (VaR) Backtesting performance to assess Market Risk model accuracy and impacts on regulatory capital multipliers and Internal Models Approach (IMA) eligibility under Basel 2.5 and Fundamental Review of the Trading Book (FRTB);
    • Financial Greeks including Delta, Vega, Gamma, and Theta, and their impact on Market Risk exposures and P&L behavior;
    • Regulator‑facing submissions and internal and external audits including attestation support and preparation of analytical and governance materials;
    • Design and enhance Market Risk governance and control frameworks and manage regulatory change initiatives using agile project management including planning, issue remediation, cross‑functional execution, and status communication and escalation; and
    • Perform regulatory control analysis, automate processes, and produce audit‑ready reporting and governance evidence in Market Risk compliance environments using Excel including VBA, Alteryx, and Power BI.

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $115,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
