Overview

Director, Copywriting (Advertising Agency) — Remote

Affinitiv is the largest provider of end-to-end, data-driven marketing and software solutions focused on the automotive customer lifecycle. We work with over 6,500 dealerships and every major manufacturer, with strong knowledge of OEM standards and local dealership needs. The Director, Copy (Automotive Advertising) oversees development of marketing campaigns, leads the Copy team, and partners with Creative Strategists and Creative Architects to deliver client-focused results.

This role includes recruiting, training, retaining, scheduling, and management of the Copy team, communicating with department leadership and stakeholders to secure resources for daily work and special projects.

Position Responsibilities
  • Leads and directs the Copy team to ensure accurate and timely completion of daily deliverables and to identify and solve process gaps
  • Ensures the Copy department’s deliverables stay within budget and meet or exceed agency and client quality standards
  • Ensures the Copy team understands clients’ brand voice and advertising needs to execute and evolve successful marketing campaigns
  • Leads the Copy team to ensure translation captures clients’ brand voice across all marketing
  • Writes clear and concise advertising copy across multiple platforms and channels
  • Stays current on advertising initiatives and designs in-depth trainings to launch new Copy products and services
  • Develops documentation and tools to evolve, elevate, and scale Copy operations
  • Maintains up-to-date Copy training docs as processes/products change
  • Contributes to the overall Creative team vision, roadmaps, ideation, and creative strategy
  • Collaborates with designers, videographers, and other creatives to execute campaigns from start to finish
  • Provides upper management with monthly updates on Copy team status, training initiatives, KPI progress, and planning
  • Monitors PTO usage within the Copy team to ensure coverage
  • Ensures invoices and expenses are submitted in a timely manner
Position Requirements
  • Associates degree in marketing, film, journalism, communications, business administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience (Bachelor’s or Master’s a plus)
  • 8+ years as a copywriter or editorial lead at an advertising agency
  • 3+ years of experience in automotive advertising
  • 5+ years of experience leading a copy team
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects with tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills (setting expectations, conflict resolution, active listening)
  • Proficiency with Mac OS, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to determine and execute multichannel copy strategies
  • Experience managing and writing to a brand voice and knowledge of best-in-class copy practices
