Job summary

Fidelity Investments in Durham, NC seeks a Director of Strategic Contracts to guide complex supplier negotiations and risk management. You will partner with Legal, Risk, Compliance, and business leaders to optimize value and minimize risk, acting as a trusted advisor on contract decisions and enterprise-wide contracting strategy.

The role requires strong negotiation skills, executive presence, and the ability to influence leaders from project managers to the C-suite while navigating ambiguous

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; JD strongly preferred. 8-10 years of equivalent experience of advanced legal studies or purchasing, including complex contract negotiations
  • Proactive management and development of key business partner relationships
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Solid understanding of complex contracting models and the ability to negotiate and provide guidance across both standard and non-standard contracts
  • Ability to influence business stakeholders and senior executives through fact-based decision support
  • Experience working with leaders at all levels, from project managers to the C-Suite
  • Creative, flexible, and able to handle ambiguity
  • Exhibits strong executive presence and confident working with all organizational levels
  • Strong relationship management capabilities that will get you a seat at the leadership table of our key business stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, negotiate, manage, and administer complex supplier contracts for Fidelity's Procurement organization
  • Collaborate with business unit partners, legal, risk, compliance, and other subject-matter experts to minimize risk and maximize value
  • Act as trusted advisor to business partners and counsel leaders on contract and risk decisions
  • Provide contract analysis and a viewpoint to support business decisions

Job Title: Director, Strategic Contracts

The Role

The role of Director, Strategic Contracts, provides industry specific expertise and strategic and tactical direction in the development, negotiation, management, and administration of complex and highly visible supplier contract negotiations for Fidelity's Procurement organization. This role will be responsible for helping lead collaboration and partnership with business unit partners, legal, risk, compliance, and other operational subject matter experts across the organization to minimize risk and optimize value to Fidelity. The purpose of your role is to become a trusted advisor to your business partners, counsel Fidelity leaders on contract and risk decisions, and fulfill business partner needs quickly, effectively, and in the best interest of the firm.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

Fidelity procurement helps Fidelity business partners make smart purchasing decisions that reduce risk and maximize value for the firm. Your impact will be realized as you assist our business partners in engaging Procurement to secure products and/or services through new vendor or existing vendor relationships. Your impact will be proven through the savings you are able to return to the firm.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
