The Role

We're seeking a Director, Contract Negotiator, to serve as our first-line "deal closer," steering commercial agreements from redline to signature. This role involves helping Alight's sales and client management teams navigate the contracting process to drive business growth while ensuring contract outcomes align with our market service offerings. You will report to our VP Legal within the Legal & Corporate Affairs team.

Key Responsibilities

Contract Negotiation & Management

  • Lead negotiations for Master Services Agreements, SOWs, BAAs, data privacy addenda, fees, SLAs, and scope documents.
  • Collaborate with sales, client management, and operational leaders to close deals efficiently.
  • Highlight risks, opportunities, and considerations to leadership, providing guidance on contract positions and fallbacks.
  • Manage multiple deals simultaneously, from renewals to complex multi-service contracts.
  • Respond promptly to time-sensitive requests while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Process Improvement & System Enhancement

  • Help implement and optimize our Ironclad CLM system across the organization.
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend practical improvements to reduce turnaround times.
  • Contribute to projects aimed at refining contracting processes, templates, and playbooks.
  • Utilize AI-powered tools to streamline document analysis and contract processing.

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Collaborate with legal and business stakeholders to align contract terms with business objectives.
  • Train and guide sales and client teams on contract best practices.
  • Present effectively to various organizational levels, including senior leadership.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients and partners for smooth contract execution.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • At least 7 years' experience in sell-side contracting and negotiation or similar experience with commercial sales teams (B2B experience preferred).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Pragmatic, flexible approach with sound business acumen.
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to build rapport across functions and levels.
  • Experience with contract management tools preferred.
