Job Description

We are looking for a Director to help lead content consumer insights across NBC and Peacock. This individual will be a key member of the team responsible for designing, executing, and socializing custom primary research focused on Scripted TV, Late Night and Live Events content.

The role partners closely with the content development, marketing, and strategy teams to champion the voice of the viewer across a show’s lifecycle. Success requires not only expertise in data and analysis, but also a strong grasp of culture and the broader television landscape, shaping what people watch and understanding how they engage.

This position reports to the VP, Content Consumer Insights.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a portfolio of custom quantitative and qualitative research projects across scripted content, including pilot/episode testing, creative materials (trailers, key art, promos), early‑stage concepts, and series performance.
  • Partner with internal partners to bring the audience perspective into creative decisions, helping shape positioning, tone, and narrative choices.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, compelling narratives that inspire creative leaders and influence high‑level decision‑making.
  • Integrate primary insights with behavioral, social, and performance data to deliver holistic, actionable recommendations.
  • Oversee research vendor partnerships, ensuring best‑in‑class execution across methodologies, and managing timelines, recruitment, survey programming, analysis, and reporting.
  • Collaborate on genre and landscape studies, situating NBCU’s scripted content within both the competitive environment and broader viewer behaviors and cultural shifts.
  • Stay immersed in the evolving world of scripted television and viewer behavior, tracking shifts in how people discover, sample, and commit to shows, as well as broader cultural conversations that shape content consumption.
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of curiosity, rigor, and storytelling to elevate findings.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of experience in consumer insights.
  • Demonstrated experience leading research projects and translating findings into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience in the entertainment, television, and/or streaming industries.
  • Expertise in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methodologies.
  • Strong data visualization skills, with the ability to present complex findings in clear, compelling, and accessible ways.
  • Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders with insights‑driven recommendations.
Desired Characteristics
  • Deep passion for scripted television and storytelling, with fluency in the landscape, creative trends, and audience behaviors.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience creating and delivering polished presentations for executive audiences.
  • Highly analytical, able to connect dots across data sources and “read between the lines.”
  • Strategic thinker with a proactive, solution‑oriented approach to consumer insights.
  • Adept at balancing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Detail‑oriented and committed to a high level of data accuracy.
  • Experience managing, coaching, or mentoring team members.
Additional Information
  • Hybrid: Generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
  • This position is eligible for company‑sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
  • Salary range: $135,000 – $180,000 (bonus and long‑term incentive eligible).
