The Director of Consumer Product Software Engineering, is responsible for the overarching technical delivery and support of our financial services products both on the kiosk and in wallet, inclusive of providing direction, leadership, and governance to teams responsible for all aspects of our application development and testing functions. This role requires strong collaboration with our Product, Enterprise Architecture, Hardware Engineering, Information Security and Data and Analytics functions as well as partnership with Coinstar strategic vendor partners. The Director of our Consumer Product Software Engineering team helps in establishing and maturing Coinstar technology standards, oversees Agile project delivery, participates in key architectural and design reviews, contributes to deployment strategies and drives increased automation in all operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor cross-functional teams, including developers, UI/UX designers, QA engineers skilled in on prem and cloud native Microsoft and other technologies responsible for end-to-end design, development and supportability of consumer product systems.
  • Lead with a focus on meeting/exceeding consumer needs through both the products we develop and the level of service we provide in maintaining the related services.
  • Facilitate and drive key technology decisions in partnership with other consumer product teams.
  • Define the web and mobile app strategy in alignment with company objectives.
  • Oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of mobile applications for platforms such as iOS and Android, including cross-platform solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, security, and performance optimization.
  • Implement processes for rigorous testing, code reviews, and release management to maintain high standards of quality and user experience.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, partners, and stakeholders as needed.
  • Leverage tools and supporting processes to adhere to Coinstar’s compliance policies regarding our consumer products.
  • Provide coaching, direction and leadership support to exercise proper Agile development practices.
  • Manage relationship with and hold managed service providers accountable for achieving SLAs aligned to enterprise application support.
  • Drive Coinstar’s technology capability roadmap in accordance with future consumer product needs.
  • Maintain team capacity forecast models using forecast variance analysis to continually improve accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with external vendors, partners, and stakeholders as needed
  • Drive a culture of collaboration, accountability and innovation and be willing to fail fast.

Education & Experience

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or comparable work experience.
  • 12+ years experience driving strategic planning, enterprise software development, implementation, and maintenance of systems.
  • 7+ years programming experience (either hands on or as a technical leader) with C#/C++, Microsoft .NET, and relational databases (prefer Microsoft SQLServer) in Dev/Ops environment and formal project development with full system life cycle experience leveraging tools such as DevStudio, Team Foundation Server, Entity Framework, etc.
  • Desired experience in FinTech products and digital wallets with multiple partners powering overall customer experience
  • Experience working in heavily distributed global systems with high volumes of event data interface offloading to a central repository preferred.
  • Experience leading a team of engineers responsible for developing a portfolio of intuitive consumer products leveraging a content management system preferred.
  • Skilled in leading UI/UX design sessions with a focus on intuitive, modern, stylistic and frictionless consumer experiences highly desired.
  • Demonstrated development and management skills concerning information systems policies and procedures.

Business Travel

  • Position requires ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Pay And Benefits

The typical starting salary range for this position is between $165,643-$220,858 per year. Coinstar utilizes geographically based pay ranges, within the United States, which allows us to pay competitively and consistently based on location. Within the range for the applicable geographic area, individual pay is determined by several factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share the salary range specific to your location. Employees in this position have the potential to increase their base salary up to $276,072 per year, which is the max end of the range, based on ongoing demonstrated and continuous performance in the role. Short-Term and Long-Term bonus incentives are a part of the total compensation package and are based on Company and Individual performance.
