Job summary

FIGS, a direct-to-consumer healthcare apparel brand, is seeking a Director of Community Hub Construction & Facilities in Santa Monica, CA. You will oversee all phases of store construction from planning to grand openings, ensuring quality and brand standards.

You will balance long-term strategic planning with hands-on execution in a fast-growing retail environment, lead a team, manage budgets, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver best-in-class Community Hubs.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of experience in construction project management or related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in construction management, architecture, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience leading complex construction across multiple locations and geographies.
  • Strong organizational, PM, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end development and construction strategy for new FIGS Community Hubs, including renovations and capital improvements.
  • Balance 2–5 year strategic planning with hands-on day-to-day execution.
  • Create and manage schedules, budgets, and timelines from lease to store opening.
  • Collaborate with Creative and Community Hub teams to reflect brand and operations in plans.
  • Select and manage third-party partners such as architects, engineers, vendors, and GC.
  • Oversee permitting and regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, and timelines.
  • Provide ongoing reporting on construction status, costs, and schedules.
  • Build and manage a team of direct reports.

Job description

FIGS is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive Director of Community Hub Construction & Facilities to oversee the successful execution of FIGS’ growing pipeline of new store openings. This role will manage all phases of store construction - from pre-construction planning through grand openings and ongoing facilities management - ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and in line with FIGS’ brand standards. As the Community Hub footprint grows, this role will also build and lead the infrastructure and team required to support the portfolio.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead the end-to-end development and construction strategy for new FIGS Community Hubs, as well as renovations, modifications, and capital improvements to existing locations.
  • Balance 2–5 year strategic business planning with hands-on ownership of day-to-day execution, ensuring FIGS’ Community Hub portfolio scales thoughtfully and efficiently.
  • Create and manage project schedules, budgets, and timelines from lease execution through store opening.
  • Support the Head of Store Development and SVP of Community Hubs in evaluating the feasibility of potential sites.
  • Collaborate with FIGS’ Creative and Community Hub teams to ensure architectural plans and construction documents reflect brand and operational requirements.
  • Select, negotiate with, and manage third-party partners including architects, engineers, product vendors and general contractors.
  • Oversee the permitting process, ensuring all necessary approvals and regulatory compliance are secured.
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, quality, and adherence to timelines and budgets.
  • Provide accurate, ongoing reporting on construction status, costs, and schedules to project stakeholders.
  • Uphold consistent quality standards across all projects to deliver best-in-class Community Hub environments.
  • Build and manage a team of direct reports
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 12+ years of experience in construction project management, retail development, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Proven experience leading complex construction and development programs across multiple locations and geographies, ideally within a growing retail or consumer-facing organization.
  • Experience balancing long‑term strategic planning with hands‑on execution in a fast‑paced, high‑growth environment.
  • People leadership experience, including direct management of internal team members and the ability to build and develop high‑performing teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction practices, permitting processes, building codes, and scheduling.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, and technical specifications.
  • Solid understanding of HVAC system design, operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in diverse geographies simultaneously; must be open to frequent travel.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for helping build and scale FIGS' physical retail footprint.
FIGS Compensation And Benefits

Pay Range

  • At FIGS, your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. This role's base salary range is between $165,000 and $190,000. Actual base salary is determined based on a number of factors, including but not limited to your relevant skills, qualifications, and years of experience.
