Job description

Impact You’ll Make

As a Director within Stout’s Disputes, Claims, and Investigations group, you will lead complex litigation and dispute engagements involving financial, accounting, economic, and damages-related analyses. The role will have a particular focus on securities litigation, class actions, and antitrust matters, along with other complex commercial disputes. You will serve as a senior advisor to clients and legal counsel, oversee engagement teams, and contribute to the growth of the practice through strong client relationships and business development.

Lead complex litigation and dispute consulting engagements, with particular emphasis on securities litigation, class actions, antitrust matters, and other significant commercial disputes. Provide objective financial and economic analyses that support clients, legal counsel, and expert witnesses. Build and expand relationships with law firms, corporate clients, and other stakeholders through responsive service and high-quality work.

Develop professionals through coaching, technical guidance, and performance feedback. Improve engagement delivery, internal processes, and practice management standards.

What You’ll Do

Lead and oversee litigation engagements involving securities litigation, class actions, antitrust and competition matters, economic damages, lost profits, business interruption, breach of contract, post-transaction disputes, claims analysis, and related financial and economic issues.

Direct financial, economic, and quantitative analyses relevant to securities, class action, and antitrust matters, including analyses of damages, causation, market activity, transactions, and other case-specific issues.

Manage engagements from initial planning through analysis, reporting, expert support, and presentation of findings.

Serve as a senior day-to-day contact for clients, outside counsel, expert witnesses, and other stakeholders.

Develop and review financial models, damages calculations, statistical and data analyses, and other quantitative work product.

Analyze financial statements, accounting records, market and transaction data, contracts, claims data, company records, and other information relevant to the matter.

Prepare and review written reports, memoranda, exhibits, demonstratives, and presentations for use in litigation, arbitration, regulatory proceedings, and other disputes.

Assess alternative arguments, assumptions, methodologies, and damages theories to support well-reasoned and defensible conclusions.

Support expert witness work, including preparation for expert reports, depositions, hearings, arbitration proceedings, and trial.

Manage engagement scope, staffing, budgets, timelines, and deliverable quality.

Lead business development efforts by expanding existing relationships, developing new opportunities, and supporting proposals and presentations, particularly within the securities litigation, class action, and antitrust markets.

Deliver technical and market-facing presentations to clients, prospects, legal professionals, and industry audiences.

Mentor and develop junior professionals through coaching, review of work product, and formal or informal training.

Contribute to internal initiatives that improve engagement execution, staff development, knowledge sharing, and practice efficiency.

Maintain technical and industry knowledge through professional designations, training, continuing education, and awareness of developments affecting securities litigation, class actions, antitrust disputes, and related areas.

What You’ll Bring

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.

10+ years of relevant experience in dispute consulting, economic consulting, forensic accounting, economic damages, litigation support, or a related advisory field.

Meaningful experience with securities litigation, class actions, and antitrust matters, including financial, economic, damages, or other quantitative analyses supporting complex litigation.

Experience working with law firms, corporate clients, and expert witnesses on complex litigation matters.

Experience working in a professional services or economic consulting firm preferred.

Professional designation such as CPA, CFA, ASA, CMA, CIRA, CTP, or CFE preferred.

Experience leading complex litigation matters and managing multidisciplinary engagement teams.

Strong understanding of financial statements, accounting records, business operations, financial markets, economic damages methodologies, and quantitative analysis.

Ability to develop, review, and defend complex financial, economic, damages, and valuation analyses.

Ability to analyze large or complex datasets and translate findings into clear conclusions for counsel, clients, and expert witnesses.

Demonstrated success managing senior client relationships and contributing to business development.

Strong leadership, project management, and staff development skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex financial and economic analyses clearly.

Strong judgment, critical thinking, and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data analytics, statistical, or financial research tools is preferred.

How You’ll Thrive

Apply objective financial and economic analysis and sound judgment to complex, high-stakes disputes.

Build credibility with clients, legal counsel, and expert witnesses through technical expertise, responsiveness, and clear communication.

Bring relevant experience and informed perspectives to securities litigation, class action, antitrust, and other complex commercial matters.

Manage changing deadlines, competing priorities, and evolving engagement needs.
