Job summary
Ford Motor Company seeks a visionary Director of Cloud Platform Engineering to own strategy, architecture, and engineering of Ford's cloud database and analytics platforms on Google Cloud. The leader will drive an IaC-first approach, consolidate SaaS databases, and build a self-service data platform for PDO teams.
You will lead a global team of platform engineers, architects, and SREs, partner with cloud vendors, and shape the Agentic Data Cloud strategy to enable AI-enabled applications across
Qualifications
- 15+ years in software engineering, cloud architecture and data platform services.
- Proven platform engineering ownership of large-scale database and analytics environments on GCP.
- Strong hands-on experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tooling and practices (IaC).
- Direct experience with SaaS database platforms and cost-optimization initiatives at enterprise scale.
- Bachelor's degree required.
Responsibilities
- Set multi-year strategic roadmap for Ford's cloud data platform engineering.
- Instill a platform mindset with self-service APIs, golden paths and clear SLOs.
- Drive platform services through IaC, version-controlled automation.
- Partner with cloud and SaaS vendors to build differentiated capabilities.
- Build and mentor a global, high-performing team of platform engineers, architects and SREs.
- Own DBaaS strategy and architecture patterns for PDO applications.
- Lead enterprise SaaS database consolidation and cost-optimization initiatives.
