Job summary

Zscaler is seeking a Director of Software Development to lead architecture and drive cross-functional initiatives for a cloud-native platform. This hybrid role can be based in San Jose, CA or remote, reporting to Production Engineering within Cloud Infrastructure & Operations.

You will shape the technical vision, mentor engineers, and champion automation while delivering scalable, resilient systems across multi-cloud environments to reduce MTTR and accelerate secure digital transformation.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering with distributed systems focus.
• Design scalable, high‑performance, cloud-native software.
• Experience with Java/Go/C++/Python backends.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of scalable distributed systems in cloud/hybrid environments.
• Architect major software components and review critical design proposals.
• Champion engineering excellence: code quality, observability, performance, operability.
