Director, CLO Research Analyst | Securitized Assets

About this role
The Fundamental Fixed Income Group (FFI) at BlackRock handles more than $1.2 trillion in fixed income assets across index, active, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest arrays of investment choices across index, model-based and fundamental investment styles.

The CLO and Structured Credit investment team is seeking a Director, CLO Research Analyst to drive research efforts globally for the CLO investment and issuance businesses at BlackRock. The CLO Research Analyst will be responsible for supporting Portfolio Managers with the credit and structural underwriting of US, Euro and Middle Market CLO deals, along with other bespoke opportunities within structured credit.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help manage CLO credit risk across BlackRock's active fundamental fixed income portfolios.
  • Perform relative value credit/structure analysis within US, Euro and Middle Market CLOs.
  • Monitor trends and run surveillance on CLO ETFs across all categories (AAA and mezzanine).
  • Participate in recommendation of portfolio positioning across global CLO platform.
  • Perform deal documentation analysis and ESG due diligence on US, Euro and Middle Market CLO managers.
  • Lead credit surveillance in underlying US, Euro and Middle Market CLO portfolios.
  • Perform due diligence on CLO managers, assessing track record and historical performance.
  • Interface with modeling group to perform scenario analysis and bespoke portfolio construction.
  • Present updates on CLO and leveraged loan markets to multi-sector PMs and others throughout the Fundamental Fixed Income platform.

Key Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of relevant and/or similar experience working in fixed income markets.
  • Previous experience in the CLO market.
  • Superior financial modeling, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to understand CLO deal structure, documentation, and investment risks.
  • Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Mathematics with superior academic record.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Intex. Understanding of coding language and Kanerai, including at an API level, is a plus.
  • Comfortable working in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and time-management skills with an emphasis on being detail oriented.
  • Ability to successfully perform under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment while managing multiple projects.

For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$210,000.00 - USD$270,000.00. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including health care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
