This position is fully remote; we are considering candidates based on location.

The Director of Clinical Research Finance and Business Operations oversees all clinical research financial functions, including budgeting, business analytics and reporting, revenue cycle management, and financial reporting. Responsibilities include managing budgeting and contracting staff, processes, systems, billing, collections from sponsors (using CTMS system CRIO), management reporting, business analytics, producing financial reports, and collaborating with the accounting team on month-end close processes. The role involves proactively identifying solutions related to people, processes, and technology to ensure service excellence, compliance, and growth of financial functions within Panoramic Science. The director demonstrates strong leadership, managing and developing their team in alignment with organizational strategic goals.

The Director reports directly to the President of Panoramic Science and works collaboratively with leadership and staff across shared services departments to ensure effective processes and oversight.

Responsibilities Include
  1. Lead clinical trial budgeting and contracting processes, collaborating with the legal department to ensure rates meet or exceed standards and post-award processes meet sponsor expectations.
  2. Optimize and manage the Clinical Trial Management System to support research processes such as subject tracking, recruitment, enrollment, and regulatory management.
  3. Manage the clinical research revenue cycle, ensuring timely billing and collections in collaboration with the finance team.
  4. Manage KPI and month-end reporting processes to provide timely, accurate data for tracking progress and effectiveness.
  5. Lead planning and budgeting for the clinical research business in collaboration with the finance team.
  6. Oversee study startup processes, including negotiation of agreements, setting up trial files, site and vendor contract finalization, and financial tracking.
  7. Manage project budgets, scope changes, forecasting, and margin evaluations proactively.
  8. Oversee financial activities, including revenue recognition, cash reconciliation, and project accounting accuracy.
  9. Produce month-end financial reports supporting GL close, including revenue schedules, AR aging, cash reconciliation, and KPI/P&L reports.
  10. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of research management experience preferred.
  • Experience with large-scale clinical trials in nephrology, cardiology, or endocrinology.
  • High computer literacy; proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel required.
  • Knowledge of clinical research protocols and GCP; exposure to clinical or medical research preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, solving complex problems and developing resolutions at strategic and operational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, negotiation, and problem-solving.
  • Proven leadership, executive presence, emotional intelligence, and excellent communication skills.
