Job Description

The Director, Clinical & Performance Insights is a critical leader responsible for the strategy, delivery, and evolution of AbbVie’s performance analytics platforms within Clinical Development Operations (CDO). This includes VISION—AbbVie’s study performance tracking and forecasting system—and CATALYST, a machine learning–driven site selection engine. The Director sets the strategic direction, leads cross-functional governance and change management efforts, and ensures these systems are enabling smarter, faster clinical development. As a senior leader within CDO, this individual will partner closely with BTS, DSS, and other R&D stakeholders to advance AbbVie’s data-informed trial execution model.

Responsibilities:

Lead the end-to-end strategy and execution for VISION and CATALYST, AbbVie’s enterprise platforms for study tracking and site selection, ensuring alignment with CDO and R&D priorities.

  • Oversee a team of system owners, analytics leads, and strategy/change management professionals who ensure platform excellence, stakeholder engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Translate platform strategies into clear roadmaps with defined short- and long-term milestones, in collaboration with BTS, DSS, and clinical function leaders.
  • Guide platform governance, enhancement prioritization, and investment decisions through stakeholder forums and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ensure platforms provide integrated, forward-looking insights to internal stakeholders, driving action and accountability across study teams.
  • Serve as a senior advisor and interface to business and technical leaders on the use of predictive analytics and study performance data.
  • Continuously evaluate system capabilities, user feedback, and industry trends to ensure AbbVie remains at the forefront of clinical trial analytics innovation.
  • Champion strategic change initiatives to drive adoption and impact, including targeted communication, training, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Partner with cross-functional peers to align platform outputs with enterprise data standards, R&D portfolio metrics, and performance improvement goals.
  • Represent CDO in internal and external forums related to data visualization, predictive analytics, and operational insight generation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, business, or technical field (e.g., data science, clinical research, IT, public health); advanced degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPH, MS)
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or healthcare industry, with strong exposure to clinical trials, operations, and analytics
  • Demonstrated leadership of platform teams or enterprise tools related to data visualization, performance management, or predictive analytics
  • Experience translating complex business needs into actionable system strategies, roadmaps, and technology investments
  • Excellent communication and executive engagement skills; demonstrated ability to influence senior cross-functional stakeholders
  • Familiarity with predictive analytics, machine learning models, and modern visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Spotfire, Power BI)
  • Understanding of clinical operations data flows, performance KPIs, and cross-functional trial management
  • Strong background in change management, governance, and strategic planning across technical and business functions
  • Prior consulting experience in life sciences and/or product ownership in a GxP or regulated environment is a plus
