Under the oversight of the Chief Health Information Officer, the Director of Clinical Informatics is responsible for applying strategic insight and guiding the operations of the Clinical Informatics team. The role involves developing expert direction, coordination, and evaluation of clinical workflows related to clinical technology applications to deliver evidence-based, best practice informatics solutions that improve quality and patient safety. The Director collaborates with the CHIO, IS&T, and other leaders to establish goals and implementation strategies supporting UC Health's mission to Advance Healing and Reduce Suffering.

Qualifications

Required: Master’s Degree in Nursing, Informatics, Information Management, or related field from an accredited school.

Preferred: DNP or PhD in Nursing or Informatics.

License And Certification

Required: Board Certification in Informatics (ACN or HIMSS CPHIMS).

Preferred: Epic Certification; current RN license in Ohio or relevant healthcare licensure.

Experience

Required: 6+ years in clinical or healthcare environment; 6+ years in informatics or information systems.

Preferred: 3+ years in leadership/management roles.

Responsibilities

• Leadership/Strategic Planning: Provide visionary leadership aligned with UC Health's mission; collaborate on planning and implementation of clinical technology; evaluate compliance with regulations; represent UC Health professionally.
• Management: Develop prioritization models; manage budgets; oversee staff hiring, training, and evaluations; foster positive departmental culture.
• Informatics/SDLC: Define and measure metrics; promote best practices; develop clinical workflows supporting evidence-based care.
• Performance Improvement/Patient Safety: Build relationships with improvement teams; communicate system issues; participate in hospital committees; conduct needs assessments.
• Education/Coaching/Competency: Ensure team competencies; support professional development; conduct training; develop onboarding plans.
