Director, Client Services (Janitorial)

Job Description Summary

The Director, Client Services is responsible for the operations, growth, and profitability of the customer accounts for Life Sciences. The purpose of this position is to achieve the objectives of senior management with respect to market retention and growth in facility services and serve as the expert in the solutioning and pricing for Operations & Maintenance.

Reporting Relationships

The Director, Client Services (Janitorial) reports to the Sr Director, Client Services and directly supervises Operations Managers, Area Managers, and/or Account Managers. Additionally, the Director of Operations collaborates with business development, finance, human resources, safety, and other staff to achieve business growth and retention. You will be responsible for 5 client sites within Pleasanton, Fremont, Santa Clara, South San Francisco, and Mariposa.

Outlined Responsibilities Below:
Operations:
  • Pay: $175,000.
  • Manage the Operations Team and Facility Managers overseeing daily operations at customer locations.
  • Establish performance standards and communicate targets to management and staff.
  • Oversee staffing levels across all accounts for optimal operation.
  • Conduct site surveys, inspections, and audits to assess service quality and technical skills.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to standardized work processes and communicate new product/service updates.
  • Coordinate start-ups and transitions, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Build effective relationships with clients and internal teams, maintaining respect and confidence.
Business Development:
  • Seek new business opportunities organically and through new service lines.
  • Assist in pricing, solutioning, and proposal development for integrated services.
  • Support efforts to generate new accounts.
Finance:
  • Monitor and evaluate budgets, focusing on overhead, labor, materials, and contracts.
  • Use financial dashboards regularly.
  • Oversee payroll accuracy and manage purchasing and inventory control.
  • Monitor receivables and work towards DSO targets.
  • Implement cost containment activities.
Human Resources:
  • Participate in hiring Exempt and Non-Exempt personnel.
  • Evaluate employee performance and develop succession plans.
  • Plan staffing for new accounts and career development paths.
  • Oversee technical training and ensure compliance with union guidelines.
Safety:
  • Implement safety policies and foster a safety culture.
  • Monitor workers' compensation activities.
Other:
  • Perform special assignments and additional responsibilities as directed by senior management.
Position Requirements:
  • Minimum of ten years of janitorial management experience in facilities services, with leadership oversight in operations and maintenance.
  • This is a remote position; responsible for 5 client sites in specified locations.
  • Experience in the service industry with progression to management.
  • Strong problem-solving, customer service, management, and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills and effective communication.
  • Flexible schedule and ability to travel.
