Lincoln Land Community College is seeking a Child Development Center Director to provide leadership for the college’s Child Development Center and help create a high-quality environment where children, families, students, and educators can thrive.
This role provides leadership and supervision for staff, daily operations, programs, and services, while overseeing the Center’s operating budget, staff scheduling, accounting procedures, and employee performance. The Director also builds strong connections between the Child Development Center, LLCC’s child development program, and faculty to support meaningful learning opportunities for students and children.
The Director will coordinate the Child and Adult Care Food Program and ensure the Center meets applicable Illinois Department of Early Childhood standards, NAEYC accreditation guidelines, early childhood grant requirements, and ExceleRate Illinois criteria.

Starting salary is likely to be between $66,342 and $89,983 per year with an excellent benefits package. The person hired into this position will be placed within this range based on education, training, experience, and skills as compared to existing staff in similarly situated positions.

Review and maintain policies and procedures for the operation of the Center. Review and update policies and procedures, family handbook and risk management policies annually. Enforce said policies including scheduling of necessary training.
Ensure compliance with all appropriate federal, state and local regulatory agencies such as Illinois Department of Early Childhood and the Child and Adult Care Food Program, provide needed documentation for the Illinois Quality Rating System, and maintain accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Establish appropriate classroom enrollment patterns sensitive to age appropriateness and diversity.
Evaluate curriculum needs based on Aggregated Assessment Information and the Pyramid Model Implementation Data System ( PIDS ) and develop program improvement goals based on the information.
Responsible for diversity, utilization patterns, food program, facility maintenance issues and staff in-service and development efforts. Also, includes maintaining this information and preparing reports.
Maintain records for participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program.
Develop and monitor the annual operating budget for the Center, including maintenance of accurate financial records, and ensure fiscal responsibility and adherence to related College policy and procedures.
Monitor the operating budget including budget, transfers, accounts receivable and payable, and the maintenance of accurate financial records.
Maintain the inventory of supplies, materials and equipment utilized by the Center and order as needed.
Interview and make recommendations for employing qualified staff in compliance with established college policy and procedure.
Perform supervisory functions including: recommending employment related actions, arranging for additional help or needed for overtime, enforcing College policies and procedures, evaluating performance, and coordinating training and work assignments.
Coordinate staff to maintain a curriculum designed to meet the objectives and goals of the Center.
Implement an effective communication system among staff members through monthly staff meetings, conferences and informal conversations.
Encourage the professional growth of staff members. Assess the individual in-service training needs of the staff of the Center, identify appropriate training opportunities that match interest and need, and encourage their continued professional growth through individual professional development plans.
Provide back-up for staff members in emergency situations.
Facilitate the parent orientation program for new families.
Address Parent concerns and interests, support family involvement opportunities, and provide regular communication with families.
Actively participate in professional organization relevant to the program; continue personal and professional growth; prepare presentation for workshops; represent and speak on behalf of the Center.
Maintain linkages with the Early Childhood Education Program curriculum and faculty. Coordinate efforts with faculty to ensure the integrations of the Center and its curriculum with that of the College to facilitate the use of the Center as a lab school and serve as a member of the Early Childhood Program Advisory committee.
Serve as a member of the Early Childhood Program Advisory Committee.
Assist in the college planning and assessment program by developing annual work unit objectives that impact long-range priority goals.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Write for grants pertaining to the Child Development Center and ensure compliance with grant requirements for grants received.
