Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s is seeking a Director of Applied Gene and Cell Therapy Center to build a new BD function and drive partnerships in the cell and gene therapy space. You will source assets, negotiate MSAs, and lead complex multi-million-dollar deals from outreach to closing.

The role requires 10+ years in life sciences business development, a strong track record in CGT, and 5+ years leading teams in cross-functional settings. Travel up to 30% is expected; advanced degrees are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• 10+ years in Business Development and/or Value Proposition/Product Development Management in Gene and Cell Therapy or related life sciences.
• Strongly prefer 5 years in Business Development or Sales within the CDMO or Life Sciences services sector.
• In BD or Sales within CGT, 5+ years leading teams (direct and cross-functional).
• Proven track record of closing high-value contracts and building a pipeline from scratch.
• Experience leading new product development and launch for strategic partnerships.
• Negotiation skills handling MSAs and Work Orders.
• Deep understanding of CGT manufacturing lifecycle including viral vectors and cell processing.
• Willing to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
• Advanced degree is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Build a new business development function from the ground up, including hiring and talent development.
• Market Intelligence & Brand Advocacy: Analyze CDMO pricing, capacity trends, and emerging technologies; provide customer voice to marketing.
• Revenue Generation & Pipeline Management: Scout global biotech landscape; lead sales cycle from outreach to contracting.
• Strategic Relationship Management: Bridge client needs with internal capabilities; network at industry conferences; grow accounts.
