This role will directly report to the Faculty Director and manage the strategic development of CAMP’s portfolio by overseeing operational staff working to to improve clinical care and patient outcomes. Working collaboratively with navigators, Principal Investigators, internal leadership, and external stakeholders, this role manages a complex portfolio and is accountable for success of the portfolio. The Managing Director will directly oversee operational staff, helping to support high-quality team outputs, growth, and culture. In addition, this individual will provide important subject matter expertise to the SUD community regarding strategic planning, executive communication, funding, new initiatives, and team growth.Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • STAFF MANAGEMENT: Serve as the “chief of staff” for CAMP for operational and research staff (currently 6 direct reports, total of 16-20 staff) with culture of learning and growth among the team.

  • Directs and manages clinical/research staff, including hiring, training, coaching, performance reviews, and termination.
    • Develop measurable performance related goals/objectives in alignment with departmental and program objectives to ensure clear understanding of expectations of direct reports and their responsibilities.
    • Direct staff in problem and conflict resolution and create/implement processes to enhance workflow and systems.
    • Manage staff coverage for active projects in the setting of staff vacations, sick calls, and urgent situations or provide Interim coverage as necessary.
    • Allocate staffing and other essential resources for study conduct.
  • Facilitate team meetings to ensure proper execution of study related responsibilities of direct reports and deliverables to meet key milestones.
  • Supervise the education and training for direct reports, including department specific on-boarding.
  • Manage hiring and student program and related responsibilities associated with onboarding, training, project development, offboarding, termination etc.
  • Lead team culture such as low barrier treatment and support, CAMP events (i.e. educational webinars or CME programs) CAMP-wide culture initiatives/research collaborative management
  • Focus on fostering a positive culture, maintaining psychological safety and welfare of each staff member.

OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT: Serve as point person on key processes related to CAMP’s operations including best practices, SOPs, methods, communication, budgeting.

  • Create project-related process workflows, timelines, and milestones associated with the conduct of clinical/research projects to ensure compliance with the protocol, Institutional policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Develop specific standards, including creation of standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and education/training in accordance with meeting key objectives and milestones and in compliance with institutional policies and regulations.
  • Cultivate and manage internal health system stakeholder relationships with executive leadership, informatics partners, and clinical and operational leaders to ensure project support and prioritization and remove obstacles as necessary.
  • Lead and manage team meetings such as all-staff meetings, operations meetings, collaborative learnings, staff meetings, and PDPH monthly meetings, and setting associated agendas.
  • Manage strategic communications and related programs such as newsletters, impact reports, dissemination of research findings, and publications through the appropriate communication streams.
  • Develop and manage an intake mechanism to streamline requests for support in collaboration with the Faculty Director.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and 7 to 10 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Master's degree and 7-8 yrs experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience bringing operational excellence to an organization.
  • Takes on new opportunities with a sense of urgency, providing direction, delegating, and removing obstacles to drive results.
  • Outstanding people management skills with over 4 years of experience directly supervising staff.
  • Experience working with IRB and human research protection regulations.
  • Exceptional writing, analysis, and presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Experience managing large-scale implementations across health systems.
  • Background in healthcare management or innovation.
  • Experience developing and managing multi-stakeholder initiatives in a university-based setting.
  • Experience in application of behavioral science, implementation science, informatics, and/or design thinking
