Role Overview

The Director, Category Management – Air Management and Flow Control will lead a team overseeing $1B in spend across Carrier, executing a 5-year strategic plan for these categories. Responsibilities include fostering cross-functional collaboration, supporting sourcing strategies, managing vendor relationships, and aligning with long-term product and technology goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a team of global category managers responsible for multiple categories.
• Develop and implement short and long-term category strategies to ensure operational excellence.
• Foster collaboration with suppliers, supply chain, engineering, quality, and product management teams.
• Own vendor performance metrics and report to leadership.
• Optimize affordability, availability, agility, and innovation in sourcing strategies.
• Handle supplier relationships, including negotiations, product development, and contract management.
• Align with Global Strategic Sourcing, Product Management, and Engineering teams on strategy and technology roadmap.
• Maintain knowledge of global supply markets, competitors, and innovations.
• Evaluate market conditions and identify new suppliers and cost drivers.
• Identify VA/VE opportunities to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to incorporate supplier partnerships into new product development.
• Lead a team of global category team leaders.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of sourcing and category management experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years.
• 5+ years leading category management or supply chain teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with motors, valves, pumps, electrical solutions in HVAC.
• MBA or professional certifications (CPM, CPSM, CIRM, CPIM).
• Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
• Experience with strategic sourcing, lean tools, and data analysis.
