Job summary

Brookfield Renewable is recruiting for a Director, Capital Markets in our New York office. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Capital Markets & Corporate Development, this role will work across the organization to ensure a sound capital markets strategy is executed and financing requirements are met.

The Director will lead project finance and tax equity financings, develop term sheets, and interface with lenders, investors and consultants to close transactions.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy finance, project finance or investment banking.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex financing transactions from structuring through financial close in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of renewable energy development, construction, operating and acquisition processes.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities including debt sizing, cash flow forecasting, sensitivity analysis, transaction structuring and tax equity.
• Strong leadership, ownership and accountability; excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead project finance and tax equity financings, overseeing models, deliverables and diligence.
• Develop and negotiate term sheets, credit agreements and other finance documents.
• Evaluate financing alternatives based on pricing, leverage, flexibility, execution risk and impact on liquidity and capital structure.
• Negotiate and execute tax equity buyouts.
• Interface with capital providers, commercial and investment banks to market and structure transactions.
• Oversee development, review and maintenance of transaction models for financing, investment approval, capital planning and lender/investor diligence.
• Analyze evolving financing structures and sources of capital for renewable energy businesses.
• Provide direction, review and coaching to junior team members involved in modeling, diligence, documentation and transaction execution.

About the Role

Brookfield is recruiting for a Director, Capital Markets in our New York office. The role represents an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic global team. Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Capital Markets & Corporate Development, the role will work closely across the entire organization to ensure a sound capital markets strategy is being executed. The Director will be responsible for executing, and managing financing strategies that support the Company’s development, construction, acquisition, operating, and broader corporate funding requirements.

The Director will serve as a key point of contact with key financing partners and lenders, senior management and important third party consultants.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead project finance and tax equity financings, overseeing models, deliverables and diligence, and coordinating with lenders, investors, legal advisors and consultants through financial close.
• Develop and negotiate term sheets, credit agreements and other finance documents
• Evaluate financing alternatives based on pricing, leverage, flexibility, execution risk and impact on the Company’s liquidity and capital structure.
• Negotiate and execute tax equity buyouts
• Interface with capital providers, commercial and investment banks to market and structure transactions
• Oversee the development, review and maintenance of transaction models used for financing, investment approval, capital planning and lender or investor diligence
• Analyze evolving financing structures and sources of capital available for renewable energy businesses.
• Provide direction, review and coaching to junior team members involved in modeling, diligence, documentation and transaction execution.

Knowledge and Experience Required

• 8+ years of relevant experience in renewable energy finance, project finance or investment banking.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex financing transactions from structuring through financial close in fast-paced environment
• Strong understanding of renewable energy development, construction, operating and acquisition processes.
• Advanced financial modeling and analytical capabilities including debt sizing, cash flow forecasting, sensitivity analysis, transaction structuring and tax equity.
• Strong leadership skills, including a strong sense of personal ownership, commitment, and accountability.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, effective with both internal and external stakeholders.
