Job summary

Jewish Long Beach is seeking a Director of Children, Youth, & Camp to lead camp, afterschool, and teen programs, ensuring high-quality experiences for children and families. The role requires strategic vision, staff leadership, and strong partnerships with parents and community partners.

The Director oversees Summer Camp, Break Camps, Specialty Camps, and Youth initiatives, focusing on program quality, enrollment growth, fiscal health, safety, and regulatory compliance while nurturing belonging

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, recreation management, youth development, nonprofit management, or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in camp, youth, recreation, education, or related program management, including at least 2 years in a leadership or director-level role.
• Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, and evaluating high-quality youth programs.
• Proven experience developing and managing budgets, enrollment goals, staffing plans, and program operations.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain certification upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for Camp and Youth programs, establishing clear goals for program quality, enrollment, retention, financial performance, family experience, and growth.
• Serve as Camp Director for Summer Camp, Break Camp, and Specialty Camps, leading program design, staffing, training, implementation, evaluation, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee Afterschool programming, School Days Out, Parents’ Night Out, and youth initiatives.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, and professional development for staff, including developing Inclusion services across programming.
• Recruit, train, develop, and retain strong seasonal teams, creating a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, Jewish values, and exceptional participant experience.
