Job description

Machinify is a leading healthcare intelligence company with expertise across the payment continuum, delivering unmatched value, transparency, and efficiency to health plan clients across the country. Deployed by over 85 health plans, including many of the top 20, and representing more than 270 million lives, Machinify brings together a fully configurable and content-rich, AI-powered platform along with best-in-class expertise. We're constantly reimagining what's possible in our industry, creating disruptively simple, powerfully clear ways to maximize financial outcomes and drive down healthcare costs.

About the Opportunity

The Director, Business Operations & Strategy sits in the Office of the Chief Transformation Officer and works directly with the Chief Executive Officer. The role turns executive strategy into finished material and closed action loops: Board of Directors presentations, private equity sponsor updates, decision memos, and the commitment tracking that holds the Executive Leadership Team accountable between meetings.

This is a build role. You will write the analysis, construct the slides, and drive the open items to closure yourself. It suits someone with a consulting or investment banking foundation who has moved in-house and wants proximity to the decisions, not one layer removed from the work.

Why This Role
  • A front-row seat to private equity value creation, working directly with the CEO and the Chief Transformation Officer on a multi-year agenda backed by New Mountain Capital.
  • Direct exposure to the Board of Directors, the sponsor, and the Executive Leadership Team of one of the largest platforms in healthcare payment integrity.
  • An environment where you are expected, and equipped, to use AI tooling at the leading edge of executive productivity rather than building everything by hand.
What You Will Do
Strategic Analysis and Decision Support
  • Build decision memos that lay out the options in a trade-off table, recommend a path with rationale, and name risks with owners and target close dates.
  • Run market, competitor, and client analysis to support go-to-market, pricing, and product prioritization decisions.
  • Partner with Finance on value capture quantification and EBITDA bridge inputs. Finance owns the numbers; you build the analysis and narrative around them.
  • Take on problems that have no natural owner in the organization today, structure them, and drive them to a recommendation.
M&A Analysis and Synergy Capture
  • Build the strategic analysis and investment thesis on prospective acquisition targets: market and capability fit, competitive positioning, total addressable market, the specific gap the target would close in the Machinify platform, and the proof points the Board and the sponsor will test.
  • Quantify synergy capture across revenue and cost, with assumptions, phasing, and named owners. Build the EBITDA bridge from the target's standalone performance to its contribution under Machinify.
  • Support diligence end-to-end, from capability mapping and target prioritization through management presentations and the diligence request list.
  • Convert an approved thesis into the post‑close value capture plan with a defined baseline, milestone set, and measurement approach, then track realized synergy capture against the thesis and report variance with the reason, not only the number.
Executive Presentations and Narrative
  • Own the build of Board of Directors decks, the weekly sponsor update, and investor presentations, from raw functional inputs through to finished, sourced material.
  • Run version control and pre‑read discipline so the CEO and the Executive Leadership Team are never seeing a document for the first time in the room.
  • Partner with the VP of Communications on written CEO and company communications, supplying the analysis, narrative structure, and source material.
Executive Operating Cadence
  • Prepare weekly and monthly Executive Leadership Team agendas and pre‑reads.
  • Maintain action item hygiene in Notion and in the strategic initiative tracker.
  • Administer the quarterly OKR cycle, including collection, formatting, scoring, and variance reporting.
  • Document decisions, owners, and rationale with precision.
Technology-Enabled Productivity

Using AI tooling well is central to this role. Machinify is an AI-native platform, the Transformation Office owns AI enablement across the back office, and we expect this role to model how we want the rest of the company to work.

  • Use AI tools, including Claude, Claude Cowork, ChatGPT, Notion, and Slack, to produce strong first drafts of analyses, summaries, briefing material, and internal documents.
  • Build reusable prompt systems and workflows for recurring executive deliverables rather than treating every cycle as a new task.
  • Verify AI‑assisted output before it reaches an executive. Speed does not excuse an unsourced number.
What Success Looks Like
  • In the first 90 days, you have taken over production of the weekly sponsor update, stood up the CEO commitment tracker, and delivered your first independent decision memo.
  • By six months, you produce a full Board of Directors section without a rework cycle on structure or sourcing, and the Executive Leadership Team routes materials work to you by default.
  • By twelve months, Board and sponsor materials ship on schedule with no corrections issued after distribution, commitment closure runs above 90% on or before target date, and at least three of your memos have changed a decision or a resource allocation.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Comes from top‑tier management consulting (MBB or Big 4 strategy), investment banking, or private equity, or from a Chief of Staff or business-operations seat beside a CEO. Builds rather than just advises, and we weigh the work over the title.
  • Thinks in frameworks and moves quickly when a question is ambiguous, structuring the problem and coming back with an early hypothesis the team can react to.
  • Writes conclusion first, then builds the evidence behind it. Handles tough, fast edits without getting defensive.
  • Holds two speeds at once. A Board narrative one hour, chasing a missing slide the next, with equal care for both. Closes the loop without being asked twice.
  • Influences across functions without formal authority. Gets Finance and functional leaders to deliver what the work needs, and treats escalation as a last resort, not a first move.
  • Precise about sourcing and discreet by default. Will not put a number in front of an executive without knowing where it came from, and handles Board, sponsor, and personnel information without exception.
  • Sees a CEO‑facing build role as the fastest route to real exposure across the Board, the sponsor, the Executive Leadership Team, and live M&A, and to the runway it creates toward a Chief of Staff or VP seat.
Skills and Qualifications
Required
  • Seven to twelve years of professional experience, including at least three years in management consulting, investment banking, or an equivalent corporate strategy function.
  • Demonstrated ownership of Board‑level or investor‑level materials. You can walk through a document you built and defend the structural choices.
  • Direct working experience with a CEO, a Csuite executive, or a Board, not filtered through a layer of management.
  • Advanced PowerPoint and Excel. This is a build role, not a review role.
  • Demonstrated daily use of AI tools such as Claude, Claude Cowork, or ChatGPT to produce executive work product, with the ability to describe a specific workflow you built and what it changed in cycle time or quality.
  • Working fluency with Notion and Slack, or the ability to pick them up quickly.
  • Exceptional written communication.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to work on‑site in our Dallas, TX office.
Preferred
  • Healthcare experience: payer, provider, health technology, or healthcare data. Payment integrity, claims, or revenue cycle exposure is a strong plus.
  • Private equity‑backed company experience, including sponsor and investor reporting.
  • Prior Chief of Staff, business operations, or strategy and operations experience supporting a CEO or Csuite executive.
  • Post‑acquisition integration or M&A exposure.
  • MBA or equivalent analytical training.
Work Arrangement and Availability

Travel is approximately 10% to 20%, driven by Board, Executive Leadership Team, and townhall cycles. Given the executive‑facing nature of the work, the role also calls for flexibility outside standard business hours at times.
