Job summary

The Greater Cincinnati School Application Consortium is seeking a Director of Business Operations to oversee Facilities, Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation. You will work with senior district leaders to ensure safe, secure environments for students and staff.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of related business management experience.
  • Valid Ohio Department of Education and Workforce Business Manager License or ability to obtain.

Qualifications

4. Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in written


form, with District staff, parents, external contractors, vendors, county,


township and village officials, and others in the exchange of information.

7. Analytical ability and mathematical aptitude to forecast financial

Definition

The Director of Business Operations will work directly with the Superintendent, Treasurer, and Executive Director of Human Resources to oversee the Facilities/Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation departments to ensure a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and the community.


Essential Functions


  • General Oversight of Classified Departments:
  • Supervises Facilities & Maintenance, Food Service, and Transportation department coordinators through regular observation and evaluation

  • Supports coordinators in their selection, assignment, and scheduling of personnel

  • Provides appropriate orientation and training to staff

  • Coordinates and conducts regular leadership team meetings within department

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, operational standards, policies, and procedures; revises departmental work systems and procedures as necessary to improve the efficiency and productivity of the departments


  • Facility and Capital Improvement Projects:
  • Identifies and communicates to the Superintendent all short and long-term facility and equipment needs for each building within the District, including capital improvements

  • Works with Coordinator of Facilities & Maintenance to develop and implement a comprehensive plan for the maintenance, repair, and enhancements of the District's buildings, grounds and equipment

  • Maintains compliance with related regulatory standards and permits

  • Contracts services for repair and construction projects; responds to contractor issues

  • Reviews all contract documents and recommends changes as appropriate

  • Conducts site visits to monitor progress of various facilities projects and maintain compliance with established plans, contract specifications, schedules, permit requirements, and related regulatory standards; initiates corrective action as necessary

  • Attends internal/external meetings relating to building projects

  • Establishes and maintaining internal and external communications to keep appropriate individuals informed of the status of building renovation and construction projects

  • Completes required documentation and reports


  • Safety and Compliance
  • D irects the development, implementation and monitoring of an effective strategy to mitigate risk, maintain continuity of operations, and provide for the safety and security of all students, staff and visitors

  • Coordinates school safety compliance with federal, state and local regulations, including filing of required reports

  • Conducts building site visits as needed to assure safe conditions and compliance with cleanliness, health and safety standards; initiates corrective action as necessary

  • Contributes to team effort by integrating safety, security and emergency preparedness measures into the organization's daily practices in a manner supportive of other departments and functions

  • Works collaboratively with Hamilton County, Anderson Township and Village of Newtown emergency responders, including fire and police, as well as county, township and village officials, to respond to and enhance safety/security in the district

  • Supports the Director of Student Services in all District safety initiatives, including regular coordination with emergency responders and School Resource Officers (SROs)

  • Maintains a budget to support the District's necessary safety and security capital improvements


  • Budget and Operations:
  • Prepares the annual department budget for approval by the Superintendent

  • Monitors expenditures to ensure all are within the approved budget

  • Communicates personnel and equipment needs of the department to the Executive Director of Human Resources
