Director, Business Development - Databolt - Capital One Software (Remote)

Ever since our first credit card customer in 1994, Capital One has recognized that technology and data can enable even large companies to be innovative and personalized. As one of the first large enterprises to go all-in on the public cloud, Capital One needed to build cloud and data management tools that didn’t exist in the marketplace to enable us to operate at scale in the cloud. In 2022, we publicly announced Capital One Software and have since brought two of our B2B software solutions to market; Slingshot and Databolt.

We are seeking top-tier talent to join our pioneering team and propel us towards our destination. You will join a team of innovative product, tech, and design leaders who tirelessly seek to question the status quo. As a Capital One Director, Business Development, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of building this business and bringing these tools to market.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and execute strategies to acquire new customers and design strategic partnerships for the data security product.
  2. Identify, contact, and engage potential customers and partners, conduct thorough needs assessments, and tailor initial pitches to align with their specific requirements.
  3. Lead the proposal process for prospective customers and partners, including negotiation strategies, pricing structures, and competitive benchmarking.
  4. Serve as the primary relationship manager for new customers and strategic partners, overseeing account activities, resolving issues, and identifying cross-selling opportunities for the data security product.
  5. Track and report on the progress of customer acquisition and partnership development efforts, including lead management, pipeline growth, sales forecasting, and key performance metrics.
  6. Conduct in-depth market and industry analyses to pinpoint new customer segments and potential strategic partnership opportunities for the data security product.
  7. Collaborate with Marketing & Analysis, Infrastructure Development, and Operations Teams to create customized solutions and partnership packages tailored to the specific needs of new customers and partners, ensuring adherence to all obligations.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Marketing, Business, Technology or military experience
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Sales (selling to large-scale accounts)
  • At least 2 years of experience in People management
  • At least 1 year of experience in New product development
Preferred Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience with consistent target achievement as a quota-carrying Account Executive selling technical B2B software greater than $100k ARR into Fortune 500 and similar accounts in security, data, infrastructure or similar spaces.
  • Ability to follow a defined sales process to run and close complex deals, including use of MEDDPICC or similar qualification methodologies.
  • Ability to prospect to create net new pipeline, directly through partners
  • Experience working with tech and SI partners to deliver joint value to end customers
  • Understanding of data security market
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA)
  • At least 3 years of experience with CRM and other GTM tools such as Salesforce, Zoominfo, etc.

The salary range for this role varies by location and is listed on the job posting. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentives, including bonuses and long-term incentives.
