The Studio team at Okta is a growing group within Marketing, composed of creatives, strategists, producers and marketing managers alike. Our team focuses on leading the brand, telling powerful stories, and inspiring creative excellence. As a partner to cross-functional teams across Okta, we tie our goals to our most important company initiatives, driving towards shared KPIs, strategies, and processes to unify and push the brand and business forward.

About this role

The Brand team within the Studio is in charge of developing the brand strategy, brand management, brand measurement, verbal identity (voice & naming), creative strategy. We advocate the power of brand across Okta while helping support marketing activities.

We are looking for a Director, Brand Strategy to help define Okta’s brand and drive brand strategy initiatives, including how we tell our story through brand messaging, brand awareness campaigns and brand management. They will serve as the voice of Brand with creative partners within the Studio and across the marketing organization. They must be able to connect dots and create the right brand narrative with partners including, but not limited to, Product Marketing, Digital, Events, Product, Sales and Corporate Strategy.

This role will work in close collaboration with our executive leadership to identify the key brand needs and how best to support wider business objectives.

What you will do

  • Evolve our corporate brand but stay true to Okta’s core while understanding downstream implications
  • Own brand strategy for awareness campaign, partnering with teams through execution, measurement and optimization
  • Drive measurement and storytelling of brand KPIs, including brand health tracking, campaign lift measurement, bespoke partnership
  • Create top level brand messaging for the corporate brand and work with stakeholders on how to cascade top level brand messaging through the organization
  • Define the desired brand experience across key marketing touchpoints (e.g. Digital and events) and helps partner with teams through execution
  • Partner effectively with Demand Gen, Product Marketing and Regional Marketing stakeholders and be an advocate for brand
  • Define verbal identity for the brand - both voice and naming and work with our brand creative team on defining the visual identity of the brand

What experience you have

  • 10+ building or leading and executing world class brand programs; experience working in B2B tech a plus
  • Tech expertise and / or intellectual curiosity around technology and its impact
  • Proven track record shaping and executing well-known established brand marketing activities through actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically about complex issues, leading to thoughtful recommendations, action plans, and campaigns.
  • Brings strong creative judgment, as well as audience / customer focus.
  • Proven ability to develop talent and manage people / lead a team
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Proven experience working with executives and C-levels
  • Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively across functions and geographies.
  • Experience managing, negotiating, and collaborating with outside creative agencies, partners and third-party vendors.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced dynamic environment, to prioritize and advance multiple projects simultaneously.

The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in the San Francisco Bay area is between: $224,000 — $336,000 USD

Below is the annual base salary range for candidates located in California, Colorado, New York and Washington. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location. In addition, Okta offers equity (where applicable), bonus, and benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies. The annual base salary range for this position for candidates located in California (excluding San Francisco Bay Area), Colorado, New York, and Washington is between: $200,000 — $300,000 USD
