The Director, API Platform will be at the forefront of TrueCommerce’s API strategy, driving its platform evolution into a responsive API platform. You will collaborate across teams to define the vision, roadmap, and technical direction of our open API strategy. Your role includes aligning TrueCommerce’s Open API capabilities and services with the needs of our market, driving internal enablement of serving our customers utilizing our open API, fostering an active developer community and enhancing their experience.

Is individual should be passionate about finding ways to differentiate in the market and build for the future; but not opposed to digging in and being a doer in the moments that need your help to translate business requirements, steer the team, and create value. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative, and results-driven environment.

This role will be hybrid if near Columbus, OH or Pittsburgh, PA or otherwise considered a remote opportunity if not within that specific area.

Up to 20% travel with potential for international travel

As the Director of Product Management, specifically focusing on the API Platform you will:

  • Establish clear goals for scalability, security, responsiveness and customer impact
  • Maintain roadmap for new API services and enhanced capabilities
  • Drive the product requirements for R&D to develop the API’s
  • Develop and maintain product roadmap for API strategy aligning with business priorities
  • Manage the API lifecycle, including versioning, updates, and deprecations, to ensure a seamless experience
  • Build and maintain developer-friendly resources, including documentation, sample code, eLearning resources and tutorials
  • Foster a vibrant and engaged developer community to promote collaboration and innovation
  • Engage with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders to gather feedback, identify integration needs, and validate new API capabilities.
  • Strategize to incorporate AI technology to improve customer experience and time to onboard
  • Execute and own the go to market plan to ensure organizational readiness and awareness of the capabilities that are being brought to the market
  • Define and track key metrics for API adoption, usage, performance, and developer satisfaction. Use data to iterate and improve the product.

Qualifications for Success:

  • 10+ years of experience as a Product Manager
  • Bachelors Degree (or equivalent work experience)
  • Proven experience leading the development of API’s and or developer platforms
  • Strong understanding of RESTful APIs, OpenAPI/Swagger specifications, GraphQL, and API lifecycle management.
  • Proficiency in designing adaptive model architectures that integrate contextual signals into protocol-based systems
  • Hands-on experience creating or managing SDKs and developer tools
  • Demonstrated ability to define and manage API products from concept through launch, including road mapping, scoping, and go-to-market planning.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and grow developer communities
  • Ability to translate high-level theoretical frameworks into scalable, real-world solutions and effectively collaborate across interdisciplinary teams is critical for success in this role.
  • Track record of defining a product vision and delivering on a strategic roadmap
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Knowledge of supply chain technology is a plus but not required
