Job summary

The PBS Foundation in Arlington, VA seeks a Director of Annual Giving to lead multi-channel donor programs and grow annual fund revenue.

You will develop strategy, manage budgets, and collaborate with Marketing, Finance, and Advancement Services to ensure data integrity and donor engagement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–8+ years fundraising experience, especially annual giving.

This position is responsible for growing unrestricted and restricted annual fund revenue through multi-channel campaigns, donor engagement, stewardship, and data-driven fundraising initiatives. The Director works collaboratively across the Foundation, marketing, finance, and program teams to build a sustainable pipeline of donors and future major gift prospects.**Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:****Annual Giving Strategy*** Develop and implement a comprehensive annual giving strategy aligned with organizational fundraising goals.* Establish annual revenue, donor acquisition, retention, reactivation, and upgrade goals.* Create multi-year plans to grow annual fund participation and revenue.* Monitor fundraising trends and recommend innovative approaches to donor engagement.**Donor Acquisition and Retention*** Design and execute integrated fundraising campaigns across mail, email, and other platforms.* Collaborate with the Donor Relations Team to develop strategies to increase donor retention and lifetime value.* Manage donor segmentation and personalized solicitation strategies.* Oversee donor renewal, recapture, and upgrade programs.**Leadership Giving and Pipeline Development*** Identify and cultivate leadership annual giving prospects.* Partner with Principal Gift fundraisers to transition qualified donors into major and principal gift portfolios.* Partner with the Donor Relations Team to help develop giving societies and donor recognition programs.* Partner with the Donor Relations Team to create stewardship strategies that strengthen donor loyalty and engagement.**Data Analytics and Performance Management*** Analyze campaign performance and donor behavior metrics.* Track key performance indicators including donor retention, acquisition cost, average gift size, and return on investment.* Utilize CRM and fundraising analytics tools to inform decision-making.* Produce regular reports and dashboards for leadership.**Team Leadership and Collaboration*** Supervise consultants, and vendors as appropriate.* Collaborate with PBS Marketing and Communications Team on campaign messaging and creative development.* Work closely with Advancement Services to ensure data integrity and gift processing accuracy.* Manage relationships with mail houses, digital agencies, and technology vendors.**Budget Management*** Develop and manage the annual giving budget.* Monitor campaign expenses and revenue projections.* Ensure efficient allocation of resources to maximize fundraising results.**Requirements for Success:*** Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.* 5–8+ years of progressive fundraising experience, including annual giving.* Demonstrated success growing donor participation and annual fund revenue.* Experience managing multi-channel fundraising campaigns.* Knowledge of donor database/CRM systems and fundraising analytics.* Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.* Experience supervising staff and managing budgets.The base pay range for this position at the beginning of employment is expected to be between $100,000 and $120,000/year. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements for eligible employees, including: (i) eligibility for discretionary bonuses; (ii) various insurance options, including medical, dental, vision, hearing, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability, and business travel accident insurance; (iii) identity protection program; (iv) employee assistance program; (v) financial and retirement savings benefits including the PBS Retirement Plan 403(b); (vi) paid time off (17 days per year), paid sick time benefits (12 days per year), paid parental leave (60 days / 12 weeks ), and paid holidays (12 days per year).
