Job summary

PBS Foundation seeks a Sr. Associate, Grants to support grant administration and donor reporting in support of PBS and member stations.

You will work with the Sr. Director of Project Development and Grants Management, manage grant terms, input data in the database, prepare materials, and provide administrative support to advance PBSF’s strategic goals.

Position Title: Sr. Associate, Grants Department: PBS Foundation Corporate Area: PBS Foundation Status: Regular, Full time NonExempt Manager Title: Sr. Director, Project Development & Grants Management

Position Overview: The PBS Foundation (PBSF) provides philanthropic support on behalf of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and its member stations. In supporting PBS, the PBS Foundation seeks private funds from individuals, foundations, and corporations for priority initiatives and carries out such activities as prospect identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and donor stewardship; generation of proposals; and grants and gift management. PBSF oversees the management of all grants and restricted gifts awarded to PBS.

The Sr. Associate, Grants works closely with the Sr. Director of Project Development and Grants Management and provides active support in furtherance of the PBS Foundation’s grants and restricted giving management efforts, including resource development, grant administration and analysis, grant reporting, grant monitoring, and administrative support to execute on PBSF’s strategic vision. On a day-to-day basis, the person in this role may write proposals or reports, correspond with PBS staff, complete administrative tasks, enter data into our Monday.com database, set up meetings, or more.

  • Support the Sr. Director of Project Development and Grants Management in the successful administration of PBS’s program of active grants and restricted giving by tracking grant terms and deliverables, inputting data, coordinating internal and external meetings;
  • Maintain files and database records for proposals and grants, tracking funder management activities;
  • Prepare meeting materials including analysis, research, or informational decks;
  • Track funded programs to support reporting;
  • Assist in drafting grant reports, Letters of Inquiry (LOIs), and other correspondence with funders and working with finance and the business intelligence team to draft financial reports and analysis;
  • Serve as a member of the Foundation operations support team, assisting in the maintenance of files, meeting notes, supplies, renewing subscriptions, mail distribution and other administrative duties associated with efficient workflow of PBSF office;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements for success: At least three years of recent non-profit work experience; Familiarity with a fundraising foundation or public media is a plus. Bachelor’s degree required; or the equivalent combination of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities; At least one year of experience using a database or grants management software system; Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; Exceptional interpersonal skills; Demonstrated strong organization skills with attention to detail; Self-motivated individual who can work independently and as part of a team in a highly collaborative environment; Ability to be flexible and can juggle multiple – unique - tasks; Ability to set priorities, organize, and manage activities to meet deadlines; Consistently demonstrates respect for inclusion, diversity, and ethics; Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).

The base pay range for this position at the beginning of employment is expected to be between $55,000 and $65,000/year. The actual base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements for eligible employees, including:

  • (i) eligibility for discretionary bonuses;
  • (ii) various insurance options, including medical, dental, vision, hearing, life, accidental death and dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability, and business travel accident insurance;
  • (iii) identity protection program;
  • (iv) employee assistance program;
  • (v) financial and retirement savings benefits including the PBS Retirement Plan 403(b);
  • (vi) paid time off (17 days per year), paid sick time benefits (12 days per year), paid parental leave (60 days / 12 weeks ), and paid holidays (12 days per year).
