Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle, WA is seeking a Director of AI Engineering to own the development of the company’s core AI technology and the enterprise platform. You will shape the technical strategy, reference architecture, and production operations that keep systems secure and reliable.

Lead a multi-disciplinary team, set standards for AI delivery, and partner with executive leadership on roadmaps. You will oversee model strategy, vendor choices, and the agent marketplace to scale reusable capabilities

Qualifications

• 15+ years in software engineering with production experience.
• Experience building and operating AI/ML applications in production.
• Ability to set reference architectures and integration patterns.

Responsibilities

• Own AI technical strategy and reference architecture.
• Build and operate the core AI platform and agent harness.
• Lead model strategy, vendor decisions, and deployment governance.
• Oversee production operations, observability, and security controls.
• Lead the AI engineering team and ensure delivery commitments.
