Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Director, AI Engineer (Remote Eligible) to lead AI/ML initiatives, guide foundation model work, and scale responsible AI practices. You will partner with engineers, researchers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered banking solutions that impact millions of customers.

Ideal candidates have strong leadership, deep AI/ML expertise, and the ability to drive multi-team programs while upholding governance and ethics in production systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or a Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields plus at least 6 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies
• At least 3 years of people leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products
• Oversee design, development, testing, deployment and support of AI software components
• Make build-vs-buy decisions across Open Source and SaaS AI tech
• Invent and apply foundation model optimization techniques for performance
• Contribute to long-term AI system roadmaps
• Mentor and develop team, foster learning and governance
